The following is a screenshot of the information I got from their official website,

It’s pretty cool isn’t it? And the price is rather reasonable too, if not because I’m serving National Service (Army) now, I’d probably make an order! Argh!

Petition for SNOC to allow Singapore Weiqi Team to participate in Asian Games 2010

Wei Qi

In the upcoming 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, Weiqi (a board game, also known as GO) will make its debut as one of the competing events; this marks a big step forward for Weiqi as a sport.

The Singapore Weiqi team performed extremely well in past competitions in both regional and international settings. In the 2007 SEA Games, the Singapore team has proven to be the strongest among all Southeast-Asian countries: they clinched a total of 3 medals, 2 gold and 1 silver. More recently, in the World Amateur Go Championship held in Hangzhou-China in May 2010 in which 71 countries took part, Singapore players proved their mettle impressing the rest by winning 6 out of 8 games. This put them on par with players from Japan, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei. Thus far, only players from China and South Korea have ever managed to win 7 and 8 games respectively.

Given these results, SNOC (Singapore National Olympics Council) has rejected the application by the Weiqi team to compete for the upcoming Asian Games based on their guidelines that a team must be among the top 6 in order to qualify for a place to represent Singapore. However, all competitions joined previously by the players were on an individual basis as there was almost no team event (for the uninitiated, a team event consists of 5 player a side; the team wins when 3 or more of their players win) organized for Weiqi. Given this lack of chance and opportunity, SNOC’s rejection is unfair as the team has not been given a chance to prove their prowess in a team setting. In fact, SNOC’s rejection serves as a double whammy as it implicitly disregards the stellar performance of individual players previously and withholds a precious opportunity for the Weiqi team to unite and gain exposure as a team at the Asian Games.

Despite support letters from the Chinese Weiqi Association and International GO (Weiqi) Federation stating that the Singapore team will be able to get into top 6 in Asian Games, their appeal for Asian Games has been rejected. The team’s offer to pay for all their expenses has also rejected by SNOC.

How can the players gain experience and learn from sparring with better players if SNOC does not let them take part in this once-in-a-lifetime competition? Applying parallel logic to the Chinese saying that unity is strength, the excellent past records of individual Weiqi players are likely to translate into an amplification effect where the sum surpasses the parts; this has been affirmed by support letters from experts in the sporting arena. Given these circumstances, why is the lack of opportunity used as a penalty for the Weiqi team? Shouldn’t the authorities assist the Weiqi team in providing them a rare and valuable chance to work as a team at the upcoming Asian games?

Singapore has been urging her citizens to take up sports and excel in them; how do the current SNOC guidelines on representing Singapore encourage our players to work hard so that they can represent Singapore in various overseas competitions? This rejection is belittling and does nothing to encourage the Weiqi team in their immense effort invested in pursuing continued excellence at their sport.

Is winning medals so important in Asian Games? I believe the answer can be found from SNOC website:

“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

Please give Singapore Weiqi Team a chance to bring glory back to Singapore by signing the petition on the following link:

Thanks! ;)

World Cup 3rd Place: GERMANY (Paul is right again!)

Paul predicted Germany to win 3rd placing

Several hours back, Paul the octopus had successfully predicted that Germany will get the 3rd place in the competition, and the match result is YES, he is correct again! Well that’s amazing, isn’t it? He seriously have a 100% success rate in predicting Germany’s matches!

Paul the Octopus or Paul Oktopus (hatched in 2008) is a common octopus living in a tank at a Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany. The octopus is used as an animal oracle in an attempt to predict the results of football matches, usually international matches in which Germany is playing.

During a prediction, the octopus is presented with two boxes. Each contains food, and is marked with the flag of a national football team in an upcoming match, among which he is said to choose his predicted winner. Paul is reported to have chosen the box with the flag of the winning team in several of Germany’s six Euro 2008 matches, and in each of their first six matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Paul has predicted that Spain will be the World Cup 2010 winner
Paul has predicted that Spain will be the World Cup 2010 winner

He has predicted a win for Spain against the Netherlands in the World Cup final by eating the mussel in the box with the Spanish flag on it.

Well, let’s see if he is correct again then! ;)

Knock It Down ft. Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)

Knock It Down!” is a military slang for doing push-ups as punishment.

Here’s an army video that I came across on Youtube, it is really interesting and heart warming especially for all the Male Singaporean whom have served National Service (NS) before.

Well, at least for me, it warms my heart very much; looking at the video showing the recruits being “Knock it down” and doing those exercises, reminds me of my BMT life.

No, to put it better, it reminds me more of my life being a Specialist Cadet, where we get punish for like… nothing? Just because they (the instructors) “need” to punish us in order to make them look good (or perhaps its their mission/task of the day), then they just come and find things to punish us.

Anyway, hope you guys would enjoy the video!

North Korea threatens ‘nuclear strikes’ on South Korea & United States

US Army

S Korea Army

N Korea Army

North Korea’s military threatened South Korea and the United States with “unprecedented nuclear strikes” as it expressed anger over a report the two countries plan to prepare for possible instability in the communist country.

The North routinely issues such warnings. Diplomats in South Korea and the U.S. have repeatedly called on Pyongyang to return to international negotiations aimed at ending its nuclear programs.

North Korea’s military says,

Those who seek to bring down the system in the (North), whether they play a main role or a passive role, will fall victim to the unprecedented nuclear strikes of the invincible army.

The North, believed have enough weaponized plutonium for at least half a dozen atomic bombs, conducted its second atomic test last year, drawing tighter U.N. sanctions.

Experts from South Korea, the U.S. and China will meet in China next month to share information on North Korea, assess possible contingencies in the country, and consider ways to cooperate in case of an emergency situation, South Korea’s Dong-a Ilbo newspaper reported earlier this month, citing unidentified sources in Seoul and Beijing. The experts will also hold follow-up meetings in Seoul in June and in Honolulu in July, it said.

A spokeswoman said the South Korean Defense Ministry had no information.

Gen. Walter Sharp, the top U.S. commander in South Korea, says the possibility of turmoil in the North is of real concern, citing the country’s economic weakness, malnourishment in both the military and general population, and its nuclear weapons. he added the following before the House Appropriations Committee hearing,

The possibility of a sudden leadership change in the North could be destabilizing and unpredictable.

South Korean media have reported that Seoul has drawn up a military operations plan with the United States to cope with possible emergencies in the North. The North says the U.S. is plotting to topple its regime, a claim Washington has consistently denied.

Last month, the North also threatened a “powerful – even nuclear – attack,” if the U.S. and South Korea went ahead with annual military drills. There was no military provocation from North Korea during the exercises.

China, Japan, Russia, South Korea and the U.S. have been trying to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons in six party talks. The North quit the negotiations last year.

The fate of the North’s nuclear weapons has taken on added urgency since late 2008 as concerns over the health of leader Kim Jong Il have intensified.

Kim, who suffered an apparent stroke in 2008, may die within three years, South Korean media have reported. His death is thought to have the potential to trigger instability and a power struggle in the North.

18 years old teen mocks those who retake their ‘O’ levels

The 18 years old teen not only bragged about how Singaporeans can only afford to buy branded goods from flea markets, she also mocked those who have retake their ‘O’ levels.

STOMPer Ewong wrote in an email to STOMP on the following,

I came across this blog owned by a 18-year-old girl.

She boasted about how much she knew about branded goods and how some Singaporeans are only able to purchase these items from flea markets.

Not only that, she boasts about how easy ‘O’ levels are and mocks ‘O’ levels retakers.

What’s wrong with this generation of people nowadays uh? I just can’t believe it… we really have all kinds of people in our society uh? Seriously, I don’t understand what is in their head (brain).

~Random post~

Tomorrow is my first day in SISPEC, I really wonder how it would be like? Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE that I know, and have served re-service before, are telling me how fucked up it is to become a sergeant. Seriously, I’m kind of depressed already… in the first place, I’m upset already. Now it’s even worst.

Less than 10 hours of “freedom” left! Oh man… I really wish that time will stop RIGHT NOW & I can do more stuffs before booking in again. Damn sad, there are so much things that I wanted to do! Oh come on, Friday is Christmas Day! & I believe that it’s gonna be a lonely & meaningless Christmas once again.

There are many people who are so enthusiastic about Christmas and are so excited about it; they even go to the extend of celebrating it, like organising friends gathering, watch movie or even eat steamboat dinner together. To me, it’s just another normal day, just that it’s a public holiday, and I might get to book out from camp because of it? ;/

Okay, back to SISPEC. I was packing my bag a while ago, and I was like.. oh my god. SO MANY THINGS TO BRING. As stated in the instruction, bring EVERYTHING that were issued to you during BMT. Seriously a lot. I manage to put almost everything in the duffle bag, which includes many clothes, parade boots, LBV, helmet, running shoes etc.. it’s super scary.

I really pray that I am not being put in platoon 3 or platoon 4, because their bunks are in level 4 and 5 – seriously, I’ll go mad carrying those stuffs up the stairs ._.”

Tomorrow meeting my friends take MRT to boon lay & then share cab go there.. hope everything goes fine and we’re there in time, if not earlier.. I’d rather reach early than late. hahaha. Gonna see a hell lot of my other friends there as well, looking forward to see them after such a long break :)

Let’s pray that I get to book out on thursday ba, since friday is a public holiday. lols.

Have it been two months already? Or more? Yet it still hurts so much; why is it that some people are just so awesomely incredible that they can get over absolutely anything, as though there’s no blood flowing within them? Do they even felt anything? Do they felt sad about anything at all?? Or is it just that they can overcome anything that they are not bothered about..?? Well, if you’re not bothered about something, of course that something won’t make you felt upset or making you frown over it… it’s a fact. A very sad fact…

Installing anti-groping cameras for Tokyo train line

The railway company in Japan is to install special cameras on its Tokyo commuter trains to help deal with the problem of groping on public transport, which has become more and more serious these days.

All these cameras are to be fixed on the ceiling of carriages on the Saikyo line, which is known for attracting sexual predators, which has a record of more than 2000 complaints for groping every year.

In a survey, four out of five women report being molested on public transport, and it has been serious until an extent that there are women-only carriages in some trains! Amazingly uh?

I don’t think Singapore has such problem – reason being our MRT trains are not THAT congested, I don’t know if it’s true or not lah, but then again, I think Singapore women would definitely yell or scream if they were being touch :x And also, not much people are so daring I guess.. unless they are really desperate of course… LOL.

Winning tips for Tug-O-War

THIS PICTURE IS TOTALLY RANDOM.

These are some winning tips from “The Tug Of War Association”; Enough said, here you go:

#1. Put the big guys in the back, usually as you start to lose, the guys in the front are the first to give up, so keeping them in back i think would be best. Also, a good coordination of your grunts works well, it can make or break your team especially if you’re at a disadvantage. (Formation of the team matters)

#2. You need to all pull hard at once so that you can get them off their feet. Maybe count down from 10 and then on 2 or 3 (as to trick them) pull as hard as you can. (Something to play with the mind)

#3. Don’t wrap the ropes around your hand. (It will affect your blood circulation and make you not able to last)

#4. The largest person on each team should be the anchor. This is the person who is at the end of the team. (Putting the correct person as the anchor is essential)

#5. Lean back the maximize amount that you can; If you were in a tug-o-war standing straight up against someone leaning back, you would most likely lose if all else was equal. Therefore, leaning back is an advantage. Maximize it. (Skills & techniques is the key to win)

#6. Constant pressure on the rope is better. If your opponents do the old “1-2-3 pull” routine, you will have an advantage during their down time. (Make use of their routine to your advantage, apply extra pressure when you know they are going to execute the “pull”, and pull when they are counting)

I slightly modified some of them though, to remove some repeated stuffs and added my own comments in italic fonts.

Cheers!

Random updates on my recent life

Many things has happened in my life these days; so much that I don’t know how to talk about.. don’t know how to start on.

Ever since my enlistment to the army, my life has been twisting around. There are both good moments and bad moments… good moments that make me happy until I can’t stop myself from laughing and smiling, bad moments that made me cried and felt emo over it as though there is no tomorrow…

There are like 3 more weeks to POP (Passing-Out-Parade) on the 9 December 2009. Seriously don’t know how my life is going to change again. Life is indeed a sinusoidal curve with its crests and troughs; to put it simplelife is full of ups and downs.

I hope I could endure through all the tough moments of my life… it’s hard. Really hard. But I guess there are no other choice other than to endure all of them! I must work hard!

Everything would get much better if there’s a friend, or someone who care, standing by my side, supporting me, giving me the power to endure through everything. Just a simple tap on my shoulder will do! Even a simple “Go for it!” or “You can do it!” would helps alot.

But sadly, it’s so difficult…

Where is everyone?

Actions speak louder than Words

Done by iluvhorsez1297

There is this problem which lies in me – (1.) I concern too much, and (2.) I always elaborate on situations even before people ask me to do so. Let’s go into each items:

1. I concern too much – To put it simple, I think too much. This can be both good and bad.

Good in the sense that I always plan ahead, and is able to react to it when things happen. Bad in the sense that I think too much, and at times, a simple matter also can become complicated. :P

It’s like for example, when a group of people are going to zoo or to picnic, I’ll be the one who brings umbrella. Good is that if it rains, I’ll have an umbrella! :P Bad is that, go zoo or go picnic, why bring an umbrella? It only makes the bag heavier and it’s not like it surely will rain!

2. I always elaborate on situations even before people ask me to do so.

If it is phrased nicely, it means that I always think about the whole situation before I tell someone about it. As in, when someone ask me something, I don’t just give them a one liner answer – “Yes” or “No”. I will explain to them before they even ask for the reason.

If it is phrased badly, it means that I always beat around the bush and don’t go to the main point – “Yes” or “No”, which is also true.

However, on such situation, I’d say that different people has different preference. Some people prefer me to go straight to the point and tell them a “Yes” or “No” answer, where most of the time, they are not interested in the reasons for my answer. Yet some people would actually expect me to “automatically” explain on situation and the reason of me having that answer, without them asking further.

Conclusion: humans are hard to please! HAHA.

Well, that’s why I say – actions speak louder than words! If words is not the way for me, then I’ll just go for actions then! :D

Not forgetting the promise that I made to you… actions speak louder than words. Just wait and see :)

Unlucky guy runs for his life from hippo

If there’s one thing a hippo doesn’t like it’s being interrupted while having lunch. This unlucky guy in Uganda runs for his life after disturbing a hungry beast having its favourite meal of grass.

Above picture: The man saunters casually past the hippo as it chomps through the long grass

He fled as the angry three-ton beast – which can outrun a man – charged at him.

Above picture: Look out! The hippo turns on the man after being disturbed while eating grass

The man, armed only with a walkie-talkie at the Murchison Falls National Park, somehow managed to escape on this occasion.

The hippopotamus is one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and is often regarded as the most ferocious animal in Africa. Hippo jaws are capable of biting a 10-foot crocodile in two.

Above picture: Running for his life: The man flees as the hungry hippo charges at him. Hippos are some of the most aggressive creatures on Earth

They regularly attack humans and boats. Despite their stocky shape and short legs, they can reach speeds of 30 miles per hour and can easily outrun a human.

They are the third-heaviest land mammal. Males can weigh up to 4,000 lbs and measure 17-feet long. Adults think nothing of taking on crocodiles, which often live in the same pools and rivers.

Above picture: Faster than Usain Bolt: At 30 mph, hippos have a more impressive top speed than the fastest man in the world. Bolt can only reach 29mph

Facts about Hippos

  • Hippos have killed more people in Africa than any other wild animal
  • Their gaping yawn is actually a threat, displaying long, thick canine teeth that can bite a boat in half
  • They are the second heaviest land mammal after elephants, at up to 4,000lb and as much as 17ft long
  • The creatures, whose name is Greek for ‘river horse’, can stay under water for five minutes

Tech giants unite against Google

Three technology heavyweights are joining a coalition to fight Google’s attempt to create what could be the world’s largest virtual library.

Amazon, Microsoft and Yahoo will sign up to the Open Book Alliance being spearheaded by the Internet Archive. They oppose a legal settlement that could make Google the main source for many online works.

The Internet Archive’s founder Brewster Kahle says the following,

Google is trying to monopolise the library system, if this deal goes ahead, they’re making a real shot at being ‘the’ library and the only library.

Back in 2008, the search giant reached an agreement with publishers and authors to settle two lawsuits that charged the company with copyright infringement for the unauthorised scanning of books.

In that settlement, Google agreed to pay $125m (£76m) to create a Book Rights Registry, where authors and publishers could register works and receive compensation. Authors and publishers would get 70% from the sale of these books with Google keeping the remaining 30%.

Google would also be given the right to digitise orphan works. These are works whose rights-holders are unknown, and are believed to make up an estimated 50-70% of books published after 1923.

Comments on the deal have to be lodged by 4 September. In early October, a judge in the Southern district of New York will consider whether or not to approve the class-action suit.

In a separate development, the US Department of Justice is conducting an anti-trust investigation into the impact of the agreement.

Taiwan leader in typhoon apology

President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan has apologised for the slow official response to Typhoon Morakot. Hundreds of people are still trapped by mudslides and floods. More than 120 have been confirmed dead. Families of nearly 400 people feared dead in the village of Hsiaolin returned there on Saturday to the site to grieve for their loved ones.

Taiwan President, Ma Ying-jeou says the following,

We could have done better and we could have been faster.

Relatives were seen calling out to the buried victims and burning incense, while TV pictures showed one man being restrained as he tried to bang his head against a wall. Some families have demanded to have the bodies of victims dug up, but many believe digging them out would harm them.

The official said the wishes of relatives would be respected and the site would be turned into a memorial park. Survivors would be housed elsewhere.

President Ma also said the following,

We could have done better and we could have been faster. But we weren’t better and we weren’t faster.

And the following,

Of course we are very sorry.

Thousands of troops have been sent to help rescue them and provide shelter. They have been struggling across shattered roads and collapsed bridges to reach stranded communities.

Critics say the authorities were too slow to realise the magnitude of the emergency, while some of those stranded have said they have received no help for days and have been short of food and water.

Many have been waiting for days at the rescue operation centre in Qishan for news of relatives missing since the typhoon struck.

Officials says rescue teams have been hampered by sustained rains in the centre and south of the island and a badly damaged road network which means many villages can only be accessed by air.

Many of the worst-affected villages are inhabited by aborigines, who farm the mountainous terrain. Thousands more people are believed to be stranded in remote settlements elsewhere in southern and central Taiwan.

The government has requested from foreign countries prefabricated buildings to help house those left homeless by the flooding and supplies of disinfectant, to try to prevent the spread of disease.

In China, which claims sovereignty over Taiwan, companies and charities have raised more than 100m yuan ($14.6m) in donations.

Hsiaolin – hundreds feared dead following mudslides the morning after Taiwan’s Father’s Day.

What is your favorite search engine?

What is your favorite search engine? Google? Bing? Yahoo? Well these are probably the more popular ones, or at least that’s what I think it is.

You can try out this “Blind Search” tool to find out: http://blindsearch.fejus.com

It provides results from Google, Yahoo and Bing in three columns but doesn’t tell you which column is which search engine. You then tell it which one you think shows the best results, and you then see which answers are from which engines.

Most users tend to think Google results are better just because they’re from Google. If you take any search engine and put the logo on top, it tests better. So Yahoo results with a Google logo will always test better than, say, Google results with the Yahoo or Bing logo. People are just used to thinking about Google as the best search.

Frankly speaking, I did a few search on this blind search website and the ratio of me choosing Yahoo search results is 3:1 when compare to Google and Bing search. :P And I always thought I only use Google search!

Perhaps I’m one of those people whom always think that Google search results is always the best~ LOL! xD

Singapore Young Couple killed on Rail Track

Police received calls that two bodies were found near the railway track in Upper Bukit Timah Road on Saturday morning. The young couple, believed to be a 19-year-old Chinese boy and a 20-year-old Chinese girl, were pronounced dead at 6.08am.

A Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman said that the boy’s left leg was amputated and he suffered an open head wound and multiple body fractures, whereas the girl had multiple body fractures, and her right leg was nearly severed at the knee.

Ms Shahriza Embi, a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) spokesman, said that an empty KTM train heading to Johor Bahru knocked down the couple. She also said the following,

We had no idea how they got there.

The morning shuttle between Johor Bahru and Singapore was cancelled. Four other train services were delayed for between one and two hours. The young couple is believed to be students from Republic Polytechnic, and they were apparently sitting on the track when the train came.

Police investigation into the unnatural death is currently still ongoing.

I don’t understand why must they sit on the railway track, didn’t they see the track there? If they thought that no trains would pass by that railway, then it is even worst – they should have find out more about their surrounding area if they were to go there for an adventure or something (?)

It’s really upsetting to hear that such unpleasant event happened right before Singapore’s birthday. :(

Anyone who want to share your views could leave a comment here.

Cheers~

End of my 1st week @ Microsoft

Finally, one week has past since I start working at Microsoft Singapore as an intern! The experience was great already. It’s really cool to work in such a well establish company and to work with a group of amazing people!

All of the fellow interns are university level students, and all of them are top rated ones! Just amazing lah! Enough said! :)

Yesterday is so far, the day where I stayed at office for the longest time: I reached office at 7.55am to meet Mr John for breakfast together with my other colleagues, he’s an amazing guy! So cool. And at the end of the day, I left the office at around 9.30pm if I’m not wrong. And guess what?

I did not have my dinner! =.=” Actually when my colleagues went for dinner at around 6pm+, I did not go because I thought I just left a bit more to complete that part before I go home for dinner. Then when I finish that part, it’s not yet 7pm, I thought I could finish another part before leaving, end up I got stucked and settle it at only 9pm+ =.=” ARGHS!

The team created “VENews – Virtual Earth News” that uses MashUp technology to gather the latest environmental news from RSS feeds around the world and present them intelligently on Microsoft Virtual Earth. VENews uses a Mashup application to retrieve information from various sources and re-mixes them, enabling the user to view a holistic environmental picture of the Earth.

Unfortunately, James could not go to Egypt as he was due for enlistment in National Service. It was up to Wen Bin to represent his team.

For Wen Bin, the experience has taught him how to cope with unexpected changes. It was only close to midnight on the first day of the competition, all six finalists of the MashUp category were informed that they had to make a presentation the following day. “Everyone was a little shocked as it was late at night. We were told that we were required to convince the judges as to why our projects deserved to win,” recalled Wen Bin. To prepare for this presentation, Wen Bin and his mentors thought of possible questions and how best to answer them.

Wen Bin added, “It was a very stressful experience especially when I felt the judges seemed impressed with the other teams’ projects. So I was ecstatic when PlanetKY was announced the second prize winner together with the Monastry of Innovations Team from Poland.”

PlanetKY won a trophy and USD$4000 cash.

This is not the first time which NYP has done well in the Microsoft Imagine Cup. Last year, another NYP team “Trail Blazers” won the Embedded Development category.

Our heartiest congratulations to PlanetKY!

It’s finally up! It took so long for NYP to post this :/ even 938live and Singapore Polytechnic has post this longggggg ago~ lols

Recent updates on my life!

Hello everyone! It have been quite some time since I last blogged, due to the fact that I’m working now and is still trying to adapt to the LIFE+WORK+FUN+SPORTS+ETC life! >.<

Previously, my life has been busy due to Imagine Cup 2009 competition, but I still got free time – since I’m working at my own free time, I still can relax at times, go out with friends, play sports, play online games and etc. And I’m so used to that kind of life after adapting it for like 3 or 4 months already.

Now I’m working 9am to 6pm daily, and I always stay until around 7pm+ to continue my work, when I’m back home it’s around around 8pm+ or 9pm; thus I’m still not very used to the life yet, and as a result, I didn’t get to blog often recently. :p

Not to worry, it’s still my first week working at Microsoft Singapore! In fact, not yet to even end my first week :p I believe that I will get to adapt to it soon! I have confident, hahaha!

Something for me to felt excited about is that I’m currently blogging using company’s laptop, which is installed with Windows 7 Ultimate edition. Cool huh!? It’s really good. Something which shocked me is that there’s only 2gb ram and the processor is not even quad core, but the whole system runs so fast like as though it possesses 4gb ram and quad core processor!

I have been doing a lot of installation work on it recently, Visual Studio 2008 professional edition, Expression Studio 3, Silverlight 2 & 3 SDK and many more – I know that it runs really smooth. I guess I’ll upgrade my own computer’s system to Windows 7 too when it’s available!

Speaking of Expression Studio – do you guys know what is it? I guess most of you doesn’t know, but not to worry because I’m going to tell you now! :D

Microsoft Expression Studio consists of Expression Web, Expression Blend, Expression Encoder, and Expression Design. They are similar to the Adobe Creative Suite, where Expression Web is similar to Dreamweaver, Expression Blend is similar to Flash, Expression Design is similar to Illustrator! It’s quite cool uh.

During my study in diploma course, I did not come across the term “Expression Studio” or any applications within at all, only heard of Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, and etc. However, I’m making use of those skills I learnt previously to pick up Expression Studio tools quickly! :D

So far so good, all my colleagues and superiors are nice and friendly people, and they will share their knowledge with me and teach me new stuffs. There are so much things for me to learn from them, I hope I can prove myself useful! :)

I will work hard! And yeah, I will try to adapt to my life soon and blog more often! Stay tune yeah!

My apologies if this post is messy, I’m typing it fast as I’m going to continue my work after this post. :P Cheers!

MY FIRST CHEQUE FROM NUFFNANG~!!

Yes! I have finally received my first cheque from Nuffnang! :D I have took picture of the cheque itself, here you go:

Although the value of the money may not be very much, but to me, it meant a lot – it is the first time I ever earned money through blogging and putting up advertisements on my blog, thus it is a whole new experience for me :)

I love to blog, you know – I enjoy blogging! I want to update my blog with interesting and attractive stuffs everyday, and I do see myself growing and my blogging skills did improve; I got friends whom have feedback to me saying that he or she enjoyed reading my blog – this gave me a lot of encouragement! :D

I don’t expect myself to be famous blogger like XiaXue or Dawn Yang or many others, I just enjoy the feeling of sharing the stuffs which I find them interesting, and recent happenings which I want to bring attention to my readers! And hilarious jokes, meaningful stories, etc! Like my blog’s motto – my blog talks about:

talks about everything under the sun

Once again, thanks Nuffnang for giving me the opportunity and allowing me to earn small bucks while doing things I enjoy doing! :D I will continue to work hard. I mean, blog hard.

Cheerios!

Terrible F1 Accident

A picture speaks a thousand words.

Random thoughts – Looking forward to June 2009!

I’m seriously looking forward to the arrival of June 2009, many events in my life are going to come to a clear picture by then!

First of all, the competition results of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2009 will be released on the 1 June 2009. I’m very excited about it! No matter my team, PlanetKY, get to the finals or not, I am very satisfied with our performance already – in fact, it has already went beyond my expectation! :D

I want to play a part for our world. I want to solve our world’s toughest problem. I want to save the environment. I want to protect earth and let my future generations live a better life – in a better environment!

My power alone is not enough, all I can do is create this Mashup application – VENews – to raise the awareness of earthlings on environmental news & etc. Do check it out!

Come & change the world with the PlanetKY! - Official Website

Next, the Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) Graduation Day on the 29 May 2009. By June, it’s already over. I can’t wait to skip this event, I’m not looking forward to it at all. My parents not free. My girlfriend no entry ticket. Sian. Friends don’t know will be around to take photo with me mah, didn’t get to contact most of my friends ever since unoffcial graduation months ago. Let’s see bah~

Another thing, which is related to Imagine Cup 2009 competition results; I want to find a job! Does anyone has any job lobang? Okay, why I say it is related to Imagine Cup 2009?

Because if my team have lost the competition already, then by all means, I’m jobless and objectiveless wasting time all the way until 7 October 2009 where I get enlisted into army. And I don’t want that to happen! So I need a job, seriously.

And if my team get into the finals, then I will need to postpone my thoughts of looking for a job already, because all teams which get into the finals will have to go to Egypt to compete in the early July 2009.

Nonetheless, I still hope our team can get into the finals – I want to introduce VENews to the world! I want everyone to know about our mashup application, I want everyone to make use of it to raise environmental issues awareness, I want to make use of everyone’s strength to save the earth! :D

Last but not least, I’ll end the entry with a very got “feeling” picture:

Cheerios!

Untitled Random Post (a lot of things)

This post is going to be very random – it is going to include almost everything which comes to my mind; And it is going to be a very long post; but the focus is definitely on my Graduation Day.

I’m feeling very empty, but I do not know what is the cause of it. Aww. Forget it.

Firstly, I’ve just collected my Graduation Attire today. If you guys have been reading my posts, you guys should know that I am officially graduating from Nanyang Polytechnic on the 29 May 2009. I’ve actually bought it instead of renting!

Many people have been asking me,

“why don’t you rent it? You are not going to wear it again right??”

Well, my answer is – it took me 3 years of hard work to graduate with a Diploma, I can keep it as a token of memory, can’t I? In addition, it is just an extra $10 more and I can get a brand new one and keep it forever, why not?

Anyway, back to the main topic – Graduation Day. The thought of it makes me felt so.. both happy and disappointed feelings.

Happy feelings – for those who still don’t know about it, I have been awarded with the Hewlett-Packard Singapore Bronze Medal, as my results is ranked 3rd in my cohort of students studying the same course as me, the Diploma in Multimedia & Infocomm Technology. I am delighted. My 3 years of hard work has an outcome, at least I have achieved something, right? And on top of it, even if I did not get any award, I have managed to graduate with a Diploma with Merit, and I’m proud of it.

I’ve done myself proud, I’ve done my parents proud, I’ve done my friends proud, especially MI0607, my PEM group. Who said that E7 is not a smart class?! Seriously, I’m really looking forward to this Graduation Day ever since I stepped into Nanyang Polytechnic – to graduate with a good results!

Disappointed feelings – What is your biggest wish when you achieved something you have always want to achieve? Like for example, you have always been getting a 60 marks for your Maths, and you always hope to get a better results; One day, you finally get a 90 marks, what do you wish to do the most? Well, I don’t know about what others does.. but to me, I want to SHARE the news with all the important people in my life!

But the most disappointing thing is that, both my parents got to work on that day, and they won’t be free to attend my Graduation Day Ceremony. It’s really upsetting to hear that, but what to do. I know their difficulties, and I understands it, I really do. But that doesn’t mean I don’t felt disappointed, right? It stills hurts to hear that.

In addition to that, my girlfriend won’t be free to join me as well. She usually no lesson during that time slot, but somehow, her lecturer specially made arrangement on 29 May 2009 (just specially on that day) to have lesson. I don’t know am I just plain unlucky or what, I regretted for not buying TOTO or 4D, or else I’ll be rich now.

Well, I don’t know how will this happy yet disappointed, or disappointed yet happy Graduation Day would turn out like, but at least I’m glad that my KOR (older brother) would be free to join me on that day. I really appreciate it; He is working too, and he’s taking the day off to come join me. :D

By then, don’t know will I see Mr Ng or not; He was my Mother Tongue (Chinese) teacher back during my secondary school days in Naval Base Secondary School. Nanyang Polytechnic have invited him along with the current principal, Mr Teo, to join me on my Graduation Day. Serious, if even Mr Ng also not free to come join me on that day, then I’m really full of pure unluckiness. I seriously should go and buy TOTO or 4D and make myself rich already.

Enough about graduation. I’m going to talk about other things now.

Speaking of Viwawa - they banned my account saying that I cheated. I seriously have no idea where does the “Game Cheating” came from.

I have been playing Wahjong (Mahjong Game) very frequently during April 2009, and I do win a lot sometimes, but I also does lose a lot, didn’t I? I lost 70 games more than win; What is the point of cheating in a game and still loses so much? In addition to that, why would I want to cheat in Viwawa? I don’t get any cash, do I?

Facebook - nowadays getting rather boring already. Interesting games & applications has turned from interesting to boring already.

What do I mean? Okay, games like Mafia Wars or Mob Wars or even Blood Elves, they have successfully made me addicted to them at first, but as time goes by, I’m like totally sick of it already. Felt so lazy to even enter the application to spend the “Energy“.

So how about doing those quizes? Like, “What kind of lover are you?“, “What kind of SAF man are you?“, and many more.

Oh man, I have done a lot of those type of quizes already. At first, they are very interesting, looking at how the quiz results turned out – some are very true (you know it when you see the results), while some are very fake and time wasting (well again, you know it when you see the results). But, all the NICE quizes, or rather, the attention catching quizes, I’ve done them already. What’s more to left?

Other addictive Facebook games like Restaurant City or Pet Society or even Battle Station have been quite boring to me nowadays too.

Okay, Restaurant City – I am able to achieve 50.0 popularity (MAX) already, and there is nothing more which I wanted to buy for my restaurant now; I’m sastified with my decoration. There is not point playing it already, seriously – what is more to achieve?

Pet Society is so *censored* lag these days. I don’t know is it only in my area or something, it is always taking so long to load! I’m so sick of its loading now.

Battle Station have been a great game last time, but times has changed; the whole design and layout is so weird now – too unpredictable already. I mean, it can just hanged at some screen where it is not supposed to be hanging? I can’t explain that, it’s a flash based browser game, ah, never mind.

Forget about Facebook.

Speaking of Nuffnang – I don’t know what is wrong with Nuffnang, I have not been getting any advertisements from them. I used to have more advertisements from them; I don’t know why they don’t comes now. Did my traffic drop? No, it raised instead.

My blog’s traffic used to be around 700~800 (per week) last time, and I got advertisements. Nowadays I got over 3000 (per week) traffic, why is it that I don’t get any advertisements these days?

Now talk about Imagine Cup; there is still so much to do. There is only around 8 more days left, and there are still so much more to do – coding of our web service (still got more things to touchup), filming of video, writing of scripts, final report writing, and publicising of our mashup application.

Still got tutorials to do, and most likely that we need video tutorials also. We need to teach our users how to use our mashup mah, right??

It’s so tiring. So much things to do and yet so little time left – 20 May 2009 is the deadline, and in Singapore (GMT+8), we would need to upload it on the 19 May 2009 just in case, thus only 7 days left counting from today (Right now).

My father want me to go for driving lessons; I guess I’ll go straight to register myself at the Driving Centre at Yio Chu Kang MRT Station there after Imagine Cup is settled bah, that is, on the 20 May 2009. He say that if I could get myself a driving license, he will get a family car so that all of us get to drive – but that’s provided that I could get a license.

I want to pick up new skills, I want to go to the library and do reading for the whole day. Would anyone accompany me?

Life really is down down down and DOWN recently… bad mood!

Till I blog again. (note that I have been typing (and thinking through many thoughts) for around 2 hours long.

Cheerios.

Why men don’t understand women?

Why men don’t understand women?

The simple answer, as if there was anything simple about it, is: Evolution.

As far as our DNA is concerned, we have left the caves a few minutes ago. Deep inside our brain the wiring is just the same as that of the Geico caveman. Helen fisher “The first sex” and Deborah Tannen “You just don’t understand” have carried out seminal work on the subject of male-female communication and behavior.

The short answer is this: Men evolved to be hunters and as such developed a task oriented behavior and communication style. Communication in men developed to solve immediate problems, generally related to the task at hand; whether the task is getting a woolly mammoth to fall off a cliff, or taking apart a motorcycle engine, the style of communication is the same: Brief, explicit and task oriented. Sometimes I’ve gone fishing or hunting with a male friend. After I come home, my wife asks me: “What did you guys talk about?” The answer is of course “Nothing” There is not much talk needed to butcher a deer or gut some fish.

Women on the other hand were gatherers. They probably moved about in female groups, gathering roots, berries and such, while communicating with each other. At the same time that food was gathered, they would keep an eye on the children, make sure they did not stroll to close to that hedge where that big snake lives, keep an eye on that lion over there, make sure it doesn’t get any closer, and at the same time catch up on the doings of the other women in the group. I.e. multitasking and non linear thinking.

Not only did women evolve differently but on top of it they developed a higher pitched voice. Now babies respond to high pitched tones more than lower pitched tones, so this may have provided an evolutionary advantage and thus the different tone of voice, but this resulted in a more musical speech by women. Recent studies on brain function found out that men do not hear musical speech as well as women. There’s strike two.

The third strike is the short attention span that men have for anything that is not of immediate interest. Because men communicate only to problem solve (almost only) and not to share, the minute a woman talks to a man about something, he immediately tries to problem solve. This is a recipe for disaster. Here she is sharing something that frustrated her for the whole day, and he glibly provides an answer after only a minute of conversation. When she complains some more, he gives her a second answer, and maybe a third; if, as usually happens she is getting more and more upset, he can’t understand what got into her. He has been trying to be so helpful; he provided three solutions to her problem; why doesn’t she like any? In any case, he ends up in the couch, drinking a beer and wondering what did men do to deserve this.

Of course she wants to share and, if he has some experience, he will just shut up and pretend to listen. That is the reason words like Aha, hmmm, and harrumph exist. Of course she gets wise to this very fast and he ends up in the couch, drinking a beer and wondering what did men do to deserve this.

Both sides are equally responsible for this, and no one side can resolve the issue.

Men need to detect when women just want to share, and then just nod their heads and say “Yes dear” and try to keep at least track of the general drift of the monologue, err.. I mean conversation.

Women need to let men know that they just want to share, and do not need a solution to their problem, and also understand that men’s attention span, if there is no problem to be solved, is about 1.5 minutes, and do their sharing in a short time period. Maybe 5 minutes.

And I’ll just go directly to the couch at this time.

The above is a article written by Mr Pedro Miranda, I find it interesting, so shared it with you guys :D

Recent updates on my life!

Hello everyone!

Recently I have been posting & sharing meaningful stories with my readers~ hope you guys enjoyed that! :D

I’m going to post updates about my life now – it have been a long time since I ever rant and rant much about the happenings in my life! Have it been a month or so?

Currently, I’m so called a full-time slacker! Although I’m going to get busy soon with Imagine Cup competition. :D

A bunch of good news for me this week, first of all, I shall start with my further studies issues – I’m glad that National University of Singapore (NUS) have offered me a place in their School of Computing! :D That’s cool! And so do some of my friends, congrats to them as well! Hereby I wishes best luck to my other friends whom are still waiting for replies from NUS! :D

Next I’ll move on to my semester results for my this final semester in Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP). It’s a great semester! I’m glad, really. Before I talk about results, I’ll first refresh my memories on the semester’s happenings first.

First of all, I have my Industrial Attachment Programme (IAP) at The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore. I’ve learnt alot of things working there! From how to do management work on the inside, all the way to replying emails & handling people on the outside (Public Relations), which is really cool! Mr Joseph Ang & Ms Chan Oi Lam taught me alot! :D So for this ‘module’, I got a PASS, which is good as there is only a PASS or FAIL for this module.

Next, I have my Final Year Project (FYP), working on a Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) project, creating an Industrial Attachment Programme Portal (IAPP). It was a very interesting yet challenging project! I have to self learnt C# programming language which was not taught in my diploma, and I have to study the concepts of what is needed and what is the current problem etc.. then I have to design the whole system from scratch, including the database itself! Then I have to move on to completing many web pages (to code them properly, of course) and write documentations, and also think of what else to add on to the site in future (think of work for future batches to do :P ).

So for my FYP, overall I’d like to thanks Mdm Kang Siew Hwa (my project supervisor, whom taught me alot & helped me alot), also like to thanks my friends (James Yeo & Yan Sheng) for helping me with my programming error and giving me excellent advises throughout my planning on the project! :D I managed to obtain a DISTINCTION for this module, which is very good, because among all the students whom got an A grade for our FYP, 13 of us were nominated to proceed to the Distinction Presentation to present our project to the Directors’ Panel; and only 5 of us will get a distinction grade! :D I’m delighteddddd~

Next is my Final Results upon graduation! I have managed to obtain quite a good culmulative GPA in my opinion. I have requested for my final official results transcript for the sake of application for scholarships and also, to upload it for NTU and NUS for admission purposes. I’m glad that I’ve officially graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) with Diploma in Multimedia & Infocomm Technology with Merit! :D

As mentioned in my other post before, I’ve received my first proof of Japanese Language Certificate (JLPT4), which is cool! :D My 150 hours have finally paid off~ Over my 4 semesters of studying japanese language, it have been calculated to be roughly (barely reach) 150 hours! I didn’t know that! Woots~

And again, as mentioned before, I’ve received my GOLD AWARD in NAPFA Physical Fitness Test. I’m proud of myself! :D Remember I said I want to try to see whether I can get myself promoted from PES B to PES A? The officer at CMPB told me that I got PES A for everything, the reason why I get a PES B overall is because I am mild overweight! & last time I’m silver? But now, I got a gold & I’m not overweight already (YES, I REDUCED MY WEIGHT! LOL!!). Let’s see if I can get ‘promoted’. If not, it’s okay, I’ll aim as high as possible no matter what. :D

Recently start to play AuditionSEA again. Introduced the game to dear & mei, then play together. I’m definitely not going to return back to becoming an active player again though. Life’s been busy. LOL. But the feeling is still great to enjoy the music, yet play a game. To challenge new songs and challenge myself to chain everything together, is SUPER FUN! :D

Also been playing PC Games – 仙剑奇侠传四, which is very fun. And also, sometimes playing Left4Dead when I’m free; everyone are playing it! I can’t let myself drop out of the trend, can I? :p

Been playing PSP also, Mana Khemia: Student Alliance – it’s quite a fun game! Quite interesting; no guides are written for this game yet though, it’s rather new. I’m wondering whether I should write a walkthrough/guide on this game and post it on GameFAQs and GameSpot. :p Not my first time posting game guides already though. But recently busy leh.

Oh ya, some updates on Imagine Cup 2009 MashUp category - PlanetKY has went through Round 1 successfully, which is totally GREAT!! :D

Actually my focus is in Software Design category, Yan Sheng, Colin, James, & myself, the four of us worked hard for weeks to get the ideas generated and proposals done. We put in so much effort in it, but a pity it didn’t get pass round 1, we did not achieve the top 16 teams in Singapore.

Throughout the planning, we did something for MashUp category, but later due to some reasons, NYP cancelled the plan. But since James and I did it already, we decided to just try our luck. :D To our surprise, we made it to round 2! This is really cool, seriously!!!

The MashUp application idea which James & I had is ranked TOP 15 IN THE WORLD!! As shown on the leaderboard, only 2 teams were from Singapore, one is our team from Nanyang Polytechnic, the other team is from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The other teams are also from well known institudes & universities like for example, Georgia Institute of Technology. Let’s hope we stand a chance against these teams! :D Wish us luck!!

Looking forward to the Graduation Ceremony! :P Let’s hope it’s a memorable and great one! And pray that I got a chance in squeezing myself into the top 3 places (although from what I know, I no hope already, GPA too low)

Till I blog again, cheerios everyone!!!:)

It’s better to be safe than sorry! (impt things to take note)

I came article with cases/crimes which happens around the world. I find them very practical and seriously need to be take note of.

Well anyway, here it goes:

Case One: Today I passed by a building which has an ATM machine. There was an old man looking at me and suddenly called me. He said he doesn’t know how to read, so he gave me an ATM card and asked me to help him take money from the ATM machine.  I answered him ‘NO!! If you need help, ask the security to help you.’ Then he said never mind….’ and just continue to find other people to help him…

ATM machines have CCTV. If you help him, and later he says you have robbed him or stole his ATM card or even his ATM card wasn’t his too. So please be careful for these frauds.

Case Two: When the house electricity suddenly goes off, seeing from the windows that y neighbors still have lights, went out my house to check the Meter Box. But once i open the door, a knife was pointing at the door to stop me from closing it. And they robbed and injured us.

Even though your electricity suddenly goes off, DO NOT open ur door immediately. Look around to see if there is anything unusual or sounds.

Case Three: This is another story. You think you had heard it before, but this is slightly different. It’s about a girl, she saw a kid by the roadside crying. When she asked the kid, the kid said he was lost and wanted her to take him home.  The kid even gave her a paper which he said it was his house address. So she took him home. But when she rings the bell on the door. She was shocked by pressing the door bell with high-voltage electric. Once she woke up, she was naked in an empty room.

Being such a compassion person might not be a good thing. Pass this on and girls, especially, please be careful…AND DON’T BE TOO GOOD!! Another way is to help by calling the police to assist sending the kid home.

Case Five: I was at the ATM machine to take my money. Behind me, there was an old lady asked me whether I’m able to take my money or not, because she said there’s a button might be spoiled, and I don’t know since when a small girl came beside me. The small girl was squeezing to my side but I didn’t notice, I thought she was just naughty and playful. But then, the small girl put her hand at the hole of the ATM machine where the money comes out, ready to take my money. I felt something wrong and immediately push the small girl away. Then I thought, the small girl and the old lady cooperate together to take my money. The old lady distracted me so that the small girl can take my money away.

Be VERY CAREFUL when you are at an ATM machine and be alert for anyone suspicious around you.

Case Six: My parents are retired and they stay at home. One afternoon, there was a young stranger said his motorcycle has no more petrol and the petrol station is too far, it’s hard to push the motorcycle for such a long distance, so he asked my parents for an empty coke bottle to buy petrol. He said he will pay 2, 3 bucks for it. So my mum took one coke bottle for him. He really did took out money from his pocket, but it was a RM 100 note, and even let my mum to find change for him. But luckily my mum was smart; she said just take and go.

Obviously that note is fake!! Who would want to pay for a stupid empty coke bottle!! It’s OBVIOUS to know that that stranger is a fraud!!

Case Seven: This happened in Bali. A newly married couple was having their honeymoon at the hotel. When both are in the changing room, the wife suddenly gone missing. The husband was very anxious and went around to find her. He asked the hotel staffs to help him find her too. Then he thought his wife was just playing hide and seek or wat. So he went back and waited for his wife. After a few hours, he decided to call the police. 3 weeks has passed, there were no news about his missing wife. So he went back and his honeymoon just ended up like that. He was so disappointed and has no mood to work and so he went to travel to other places. Few years later, he came back to Bali, to watch ‘FREAK SHOW’ in an old house. He saw a dirty and rusty metal cage; there was a lady without limbs, body including the face, full of scars. When she was distorted on the ground, she gives out a sound of a monster-like voice. When he saw her face, he was shocked. He could not recognize the face anymore, her missing wife’s face with a red birthmark.

Case Eight: This happened in shanghai. Few years ago, a girl reported to the police that her cousin sister was missing in the shopping complex. But after 5 years, one of her friend found her cousin sister begging beside one of the street in Bangkok, Thailand… The worst thing is that her cousin sister has no more limbs and her body is tied to a lamp post with a Shackle (metal chain).

Case Nine: Let’s just shorten this story. DO NOT open your house door when you hear some sound of a BABY CRYING!! It might be a trap! Women in the house must be alert in these cases. The police said it will be a murderer using a recorder with de baby crying sound to attract your attention. These normally happen at night and when you are only alone in the house. GIRLS, especially, please be careful.

Case Ten: I read an email that was sent by my friend. Her friend, which is known as A, went to Luo Hu Commercial City with 2 friends, B and C. Luo Hu Commercial City is Shenzhen counterfeit goods distribution center, there are many people there, it’s also near to the ShenZhen train station and Hong Kong’s Luo Hu Port. It’s says, C wants to go to the toilet. So A and B waited outside. But then after they waited for so long, they felt weird and went into the toilet to ask her to hurry up. But once they went in, there were nobody inside there. Both were scared as they called C’s phone but no one answered. So they called the police. The police asked them whether they had saw anybody suspicious went into the toilet. Both said there were none and it’s impossible to bring an alive person with more than 100 kg out of the toilet without them noticing. Then A remember there was a cleaner pushing a trolley in, and then came back out…the police told them this is not the 1st time happening. The police have already suspect a gang of criminals that always attacks the toilet in a complex where many people are. They use cleaners to kidnap or trafficking in human organs.

Please be careful when using the toilet. For anybody, not only girls, boys too!! Do not go to the wash room or toilet ALONE!! Please at least have a partner with you.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Just hatched turtle [See picture]

Its SO CUTE!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh~

Cute right? :D

There is a bus with 7 girls inside. Each girl has 7 bags. Inside each bag there are 7 big cats. Each big cat has 7 small cats. All cats have 4 legs each. How many legs are on the bus?

Riddle answer is zero legs on the bus since a bus has wheel.

Maths answer is 10990.

The question listed above on the title is so called a “forwarded email” or “spam mail” which people forwards the excel file to people all over the world. Here’s a copy of the text:

If you can open the spreadsheet, you will see it’s a very small list of
people who have gotten the correct number.

There are 7 girls in a bus
Each girl has 7 bags
In each bag, there are 7 big cats
For every big cat, there are 7 little cats
Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

The number of legs is the password to unlock the Excel sheet.

If you open it, add your name and send it on to see who else can unlock it.
Send it back to let the person know you got it correct. This is a real maths
problem and there is no bus driver.

Put your name in the column with the names and forward it on, if you get the
right answer.

How did I get 10990?

Each girl has 7 bags

- > Each bag has 7 big cats
- > Each big cat has 7 kittens

CATS WITHIN ONE BAG

Big cat # 1 + 7 kittens = 8

Big cat # 2 + 7 kittens = 8

Big cat # 3 + 7 kittens = 8

Big cat # 4 + 7 kittens = 8

Big cat # 5 + 7 kittens = 8

Big cat # 6 + 7 kittens = 8

Big cat # 7 + 7 kittens = 8

Total = 7 X 8 = 56 cats per bag

NO. OF CATS WITH EACH GIRL

Each girl has 7 bags; thus:
- > 56 cats per bag * 7 bags= 392 cats with each girl

TOTAL NO. OF CATS IN TOTAL

- > 392 cats per girl * 7 girls = 2744 cats in total

TOTAL NO. OF LEGS FROM ALL THE CATS

- > 2744 cats in total * 4 legs per cat = 10976 legs in total (belongs to cats)

TOTAL NO. OF LEGS FROM THE 7 GIRLS (this is obvious)

- > 7 girls * 2 legs each = 14 legs in total (belongs to girls)

TOTAL NO. OF LEGS IN TOTAL (SOLVED!!)

- > 10976 legs (cats) + 14 legs (girls) = 10990 legs in total

Hope my explanations are clear. Cheers~

I saw it from Jie Jun’s blog, so go and tried it. hehes.

Map Exploring @ Tiong Bahru (Just like RPG game LOL)

I have been assigned to the Boys’ Brigade in Singapore as my attachment company! It’s located at 105 Ganges Avenue. I will be working there for 12 weeks (3 months), hope to get to know more people and learn more stuffs, and most important of all, gain working experience! :D

I am a very hardworking person! And this kind of work requires lot of commitment, I’m sure I can handle them! :D Afterall, I’m someone who have a warmth family and have no girlfriend+not intending to have, I can stay focus and stay commited to the work assigned to me and get them done in time! xD

Okay, back to today’s post. Meet up with Roger and James to find our workplace. Go there once to find out how to get there and how long it takes. Also to pay a visit to our future colleages :p

We meet up with Mr Joseph Ang, our supervisor. He is a friendly person, nice to talk to; the kind whom I respect. :D

Truly hope that I will not cause him any trouble in future during my work @ Boy’s Brigade.

One thing I must point out is that, I LOVE MY PHONE (W760i)!! We tried to locate Boys’ Brigade HQ via walking from Tiong Bahru MRT Station and we kinda lost our way / mistracked, however, Roger commented:

“If you GPS can check then good liao”

I go and check my phone’s function, REALLY got GPS system – Google Maps!

Faster go and check.. and find out that we are supposed to go NORTH, but we made a wrong turn at the 4 ways junction previously, we are so close to Singapore River O_o”

So we walked and checked the map and finally reached our destination! It is SOOOOOO INTERESTING! Like some kind of TREASURE HUNT LOL! The bus stops along the way are the checkpoints, and the Boys’ Brigade HQ is our final destination! Wahahas.

Also remind me of those RPG (Role-Playing Game) on video game consoles, where you controlled the main character and runs around the world in the game, exploring the map / world. It’s almost just like what we did, we walk for a while and refresh the Google Map to check where are we, and get to see further area only when we reached there! :D

After that, we went to Buona Vista to accompany James to his workplace at DSO International Laboratories, it is located at NUS Campus area. After finding our the location of his company building, we went to explore around NUS Campus building – just some of the buildings only.. The whole campus is SO BIG!!! Looking at the map made my jaws drop!

How I wish to study in a University in future, after my 2 years serving for National Service (NS)! It is always my dream to study in a university! It’s quite silly, but after watching all those Taiwan Idol Drama (台湾偶像剧) and I was still kinda naive, plus the fact is that those shows all took place in university (not high school, not college), it kinda make me WANT to study in university also. HAHA!

Well anyway, my more realistic dream is that, I’ve always wanted to be a successful person. But how could I be successful? I’m a naive person, I believe in hard work, and most important – determination.

My favorite quote -> Determination is the key to success <- Of course, the full quote is much longer, but currently this is the only line which lies in my mind, also is the most important line of my favorite quote.

I’ve always believe that as long as I worked hard enough, I can do it. Although there are times where failures still comes, I will still tell myself to go on. Because I believe that one day, I will shine.

Oh come on, look how far I have side track to. In fact, I have sidetracked even more, side track until typing out some stuffs which I’ve got no one to talk to about. However, I’ve highlighted all of them and pressed backspace LOL. Been typing this post for almost 2 hours!!!! Due to the damn sidetrack! Yet deleted like three quarter of them :p

Type until so emo! Wahahas. Okay larh, I’ll stop here for now, will update my blog once I got more things to talk about. Thanks for visiting my blog! :D

So much to blog! Can’t think of a specific title!

Suddenly got the feel of posting a blog entry. haha, been enjoying a peaceful life these days. The peace going to end on 1st September 2008 – Attachment starts! And I got SO MUCH TO BLOG now. SO MANY different stuffs.. wondering which to talk about first.

Okay, guess I’ll start with the show I’m catching now. 溏心风暴 (Heart of Greed), a very famous Hong Kong show. Said to be one of the top Hong Kong Drama series in the year 2007, a big show.

Currently I watched until episode 6 only.. Going to watch this series slowly! Wahahas.. Gonna be the last drama series I’d watch before going for attachment!

Next, I watched the two Beijing Olympic 2008 Basketball matches – Bronze and Gold medal matches!

Lithuania VS Argentina for the Bronze medal – this match was awfully boring! A typical country VS country match. Not very entertaining.. Argentina is obviously leading and chopping Lithuania all the way.

USA VS Spain for the Gold medal – this match is ULTRA NICE! Very interesting! In the first quarter, both teams already have over 30 points each! Both teams play a very high standard of basketball!

This is the first time I watch USA basketball team play in this season of olympic games and not OBVIOUSLY chopping the other team! Seriously, USA is leading and they tired to extend the points gap to 20+, but Spain AGAIN and AGAIN reduce the points gap back to 1 digit! It’s so exciting! I actually screamed at my TV! wahahas!

Although Spain lose, but they lost it nice. The final score is USA 118 – 107 Spain, both teams with scores over 100 and it’s a close fight! (USA wins all games at over 20+)

Okay, here ends the excitement. What else? Oh yeah, I’ve been playing this PSP game, which I find it really nice – Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology. I’ve always been a fan to the Tales series, Tales of Eternia, Tales of Destiny 1 & 2, Tales of Phantasia, and Tales of Abyss.

I find this game quite a good make, combining some of the characters from various Tales series. Catch this game if you’d like. For people who didn’t play Tales series game before can understand this game too, it doesn’t require you to have any information about the other make anyway ;D

Maybe I shall review this game after I’ve complete it! YEAH! hahaha. So is the 溏心风暴 (Heart of Greed) drama show, maybe shall talk more bout it when I finish watching it. hehes.

Last but not least, my friend have entered a competition thing. Do help me vote for her okay! Here’s the link! Thanks for the vote! :D

Till I blog again! Cheers!

No more common test in Poly!

I just finish my Interpersonal Communication Skills module common test! I’m so high now! Woots~!!

This is going to be the LAST common test paper I’d ever going to take in my poly life! No more common test! :D

On the 20th August 2008 will be my LAST exam paper! And then, I’m examlessI don’t think there’s such a word though ;P

Next semester will only consist of Industrial Attachment and Final Year Project, no more exams nor is there any written test! No more memorising and stuffs anymore! WAHAHAHAS!!!

There’s still projects and stuffs to stress though ;/ but anyway, let’s hope my life goes great in future.

I gonna grant myself holidays for the time being, until a few days left before 20th August 2008 then I start to worry about my final EXAM in my poly life! :D

Cheers!

Singapore MRT line in future

My brother sent me this image, which shows a SPECULATIVE Singapore MRT line structures. This is an modified version of the original current MRT lines structure – I find it VERY INTERESTING! Here you go:

Any comments? They even have line which go until Johor Bahru in Malaysia! Haha! Kind of fake but I believe it’s interesting!

It did make me feel “WOW” when I first saw it! (:

Answer to ‘A man was traveling to Kasoa’

The answer is ONE! Good job to whoever get it correct ;)

A man was traveling to Kasoa

A man was traveling to Kasoa
At the bus stop, he met a man with 7 wifes.  Each wife has 12 sons and 12 daughters
Each daughter of the man’s wife had 4 sons and 7 daughters, each son of the man’s wife had 7 sons and 4 daughters.
Each grand daughter had 4 friends.

How many people got to Kasoa?

The above was a question which is very logical, but I was calculating it in a very mathematical way until I always went crazy. LOL!

I received this from an email, where you can use the answer of this question to open a file attached to the email. I showed it to James and we were trying hard to solve this mathematical question.

In the end, when we finally found out the answer, we were like “WTF” LOL..

OKay, so now YOU shall try it! Feel free to post your answer on my tagboard! I’ll release the answer tomorrow night! x))

Windows updates could not be installed

As shown on topic, here’s the screen shot:

I’ve tried like 4 or 5 times, even restarted my computer for a few times just to install these updates, but to no vail. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.

It detected and tried to install the updates, but the updates could not be installed.

let’s hope I can get to know why those windows updates could not be installed! :/

Windows XP Professional SCREWED UP!!!!

Oh my god! It’s totally screwed! Erm, I meant, my Windows XP Professional edition installation CD! Not the software itself.

In fact, I find Windows XP Professional edition even better than Windows Vista. Well, it just my personal opinion. I’m not going to explain much about the difference between this two edition of Windows, nor am I going to do a compare and contrast of them regarding actual usage in the real world (yes, not just differences on the technical part, but also differences of them when they are being used by the users)

Well anyway, back to the point. My Windows XP Professional edition installation disc is spoiled. Actually my friend told me before, but I got no choice since I got to reformat my computer, and I only have this disc, and I didn’t want to borrow from my friends as it is quite troublesome for them.

So I used it to install. I didn’t get prompted for any errors though. I thought everything was installed fine. After the installation, things seems to be working fine, just that it’s kind of lag. Yes, it still lags like before reformatting. But at least now, it looks somewhat cleaner?

Anyway, I just use it as per normal. Until one day – I got to start doing my projects, because time is running short and I got a lot of work which are needed to be done; yet none have been started.

I tried to install related programs such as Apache HTTP Server, MySQL and others… all of them didn’t work!

And the error is something which I couldn’t debug. Here’s some screenshots of the errors:

It’s damn annoying. I can’t do any work at all.

Kind of upset nowadays. Been super stressed, and I didn’t do well in my common tests as well. So far only know my results for database management and Web 2.0 – both elective modules. Tomorrow going to get back my Open source module results, it’s gonna be either this of that. Of course, I hope for ‘that’, but what if I got ‘this’… I’ll be damn sad.

Hope can get back good results~ alright! Back to do my Japanese composition!

I’ll update again soon and talk about the “Missing icon in Windows notification area” :D

So many to blog, so little time

I got so many contents to blog about – James and Roger knows what I meant. :)

I’ve mention my blog topics to them and gave them a rough idea of it, and I’m sure they are interesting stuffs to blog about :p

However, due to the overwhelming load of work/projects, I do not have the time to blog it out.

I’m just doing a quick post now, got to rush back for work again.

I’ll update my blog once I get the chance! That is, of course, as soon as possible. Thanks all for visiting! Stay tune to my interesting entries! :D

Windows live messenger ‘import’ contacts screwed me!

I wanted to change my email, but somehow got screwed by it. But somehow, in another way, I shouldn’t say it screwed me – it’s more on how I misunderstood the meaning of “Import instant messaging contacts…”? Oh well.

My friends have been changing their email address quite frequently – as in different person change that email address for a few times, when everyone’s change of email address are being added up, there’s quite a number of changes.

I wanted to change my email address too! My brother helped me create this email address when I was in primary 6, that is, when I’m 12 years old. I’m not really someone who uses computer – it was when I was around 14 or 15 years old then I start using computer – just to sign on to msn to save ‘sms’ and to play MMORPG games though.

Anyway, my point is, I’m old enough and I got to have a more mature email address for the purpose of work – I’ll need to give my email address to my clients in future, and even write it in my resume. Thus, it is necessary to change my email address!

However, I hesitated because it is super troublesome to be adding my contacts one by one from the old email to my new email, thus dragged until now.

Firstly, I don’t know how to sign in two messenger at a same time.Tried google around, but they always direct my to some funny sites which spams me with ad-wares – where ever I click on the page, there will surely be a pop-out window, I DON’T KNOW WHY. (yes, frustrated)

I make use of the “Save instant messaging contacts…” function to export my contacts, sign on to my new email acccount and uses the “Import instant messaging contacts…” function to import my contacts into my new account…

Oh damn it, the GROUPINGS are not being imported!

that’s it, I’m done with it. Seriously, without the groupings, I don’t really know who is who! Most of my friends uses weird and funny email address, in addition to the fact that some of my friends used to use a standard msn nick like for example,

” N a me O f P e r s o n            S o m e Q u o t e s “

I recognise this contact by his/her nick, because their msn is something like for example,

“happytreefriends98@hotmail.com”

How am I going to recognise who is this?

Thus when this contact changes his nick to totally something else, without leaving their names there – I don’t know who is this person! And not one or two contacts… more than 10 contacts do that to me! Oh man..

However, my point is; I feel screwed because Windows live messenger really save and import CONTACTS only, the groupings are ignored. It’s exactly the same as the options stated there! It’s so exact!

So now I got to really reconsider whether to change my email address or not, it’s SO TROUBLESOME!

Come try out this meaningful quiz~!!

As requested by Philina, I’m tagged with a quiz! It’ve been a few days since she tagged, so I guess it’s time to do the quiz before it’s dragged too long ;p

As I do the quiz, I find the questions getting more and more meaningful. They will actually get you thinking about your life – your past, present and future. You’d have to really think through it in your mind and sort them out as your type out your thoughts.

When you’re by yourself, you would not be thinking of such things. But when you’re told to do so, being asked to think about such things, you’ll actually be thinking through, which is a good things. You might realises a bigger picture out there.

I shall not say too much, so here goes the quiz:

1. who are you chatting with now?
Alvin Han~

instructions: remove 1 question from above and replace it with your own. tag 8 ppl, list them out at the end of the post. notify them in their tagboard tt they’ve been tagged.

2. what do you want the most now?
I want JULY to come fast and quick! In July, there’s no more common test nor is there javajive project. All that’s left is 5 projects (at least not 5 projects, 1 competition and 4 common tests) and more importantly, my birthday’s on JULY :p

9th JULY!! <– my birthday! (out of topic though)

3. what’s going to happen tmr?
Well, I don’t think nothing much is gonna happen tomorrow. I’d most likely stay home and rest; get sufficient sleep. Been busy nowadays that I’m like a having super deep PANDA EYES. hahaha.

4. Do you hate your friends sometimes?
Can’t say I hate. In life, there are times when you want to be alone and whoever tried to disturb your “peace”, you tend to get irritated by them, but not really ‘hate’. haha.

5. when do u wish to die?
Do I have a choice? In fact, I don’t wish to live tooooo long. I don’t want to be a living shell just to live for the sake of living, old until cannot move or speak well, lying on bed everyday, eat and sleep and eat and sleep. I rather die by then. lols.

6. what impossible things you would wish to do?
To love and being loved! It’s not really an impossible thing though, but when you don’t really believe in love anymore, you’ll probably believe that to love and being loved is actually an impossible task; thus, an impossible thing to do.

7. Do you believe in eternal love?
I believe that eternal love exist. Well, that is, if love do exist.

8. have you broken someone’s heart tt he/ she tried to commit suicide?
Nope, I don’t have such charm! LOL. Oh well…

9. what’s the few things you’d do before you die?
I’d say all I want to say, do all I’d want to do. But well, that’s provided only if I know when I am going to die, and I still got the energy or power to actually do it.

10. describe your other half.
She’s gonna be someone perfect. Impossible? Not perfect to the world or anyone else, just perfect in my eyes.

To all: I believe that your loved ones will be perfect in your eyes, don’t you agree?

11. what feeling do you hate the most?
To be cheated. I hate people who cheat me. Be it good or bad, as in, be it cheating me for my own good, or intentionally cheated me. I hate that.

12. do you cherish every single friendship of yours?
Yes I do. What are friends for? We help each other and play a part in everyone’s life. However, that are exception – people who don’t treasure the friendship, and disappoints me again and again. I would not need such a friend. Nor do I need friends who are making use of me or those with pathetic morality.

13. the most important thing in your life.
Without my family members, I would not have survived until today. They’re always there and are very understanding. <3

14. who do you hope to be always there for you?
Again, my family members. And if love really exists in this world, I’d hope that my other half would always be there for me.

15. do you find life meaningless?
At times, I do. Everyone is going to go through that part of their life, in fact, I believe that everyone of my age (18, turning 19 soon) would have gone through such a stage before already, just that a number of you does not realise it. There may be some exception though, but this stage of life is going to come, sooner or later – it will.

16. what have you been searching for all this while?
This question beats me. I don’t really have an idea of what I’ve been searching for. All I could say is I’ve been wandering aimlessly through out more than half of my life as at today, and I’ve been working hard for myself and my future right now. If I really got to answer this question, I think my closest answer is – I’ve been searching for my purpose of existance in this world.

I strongly believe that everyone exists in this world for a specific purpose, and it’s for you to find out for yourself.

17. list one thing you’re really scared of.
One thing uh. I’d say its Ghost. I’ve encountered real ghost @ yishun sports hall. You could find out more from this post [ http://kongwenbin.way2blog.net/?p=111 ]

18. what’s your greatest wish?
For all my family members to be safe and healthy.

19. which one do you believe in? FATE or DESTINY?
Isn’t them the same? I’m not so sure of what are the differences between them actually, but I’d choose FATE, since I’m more familiar with that word. hahaha.

20. rank according to most important to least important to you, family, love, career, pride, money.
I’d have it as family, love, pride, career, money.

**What do you enjoyed doing the most?
Helping other people. Define other people – Anyone other than myself, be it friends, strangers, family members, or even animals like dogs or cats. I would feel really good when I’m helping people, seeing them felt happy, it’s a great feeling. I’ll feel the joy too. In fact, who don’t love to be helped? If you love to help others, why don’t you learn to help other people first?

Well that’s all for the quiz! I hope you guys would enjoyed it. Last but not least, try them out yourself! You’ll find yourself thinking a lot! x)

I’d just go and tag 8 people’s tagboard to get them do this quiz too. All who are not tagged by me, feel free to do it too! Get yourself thinking too! ;D

Cheerios!

Why API Key @ WordPress.com ?

I have finally got it! My API Key @ WordPress.com!

A billion thanks to Darran, Fupper, Felix Ker, and Isaiah for the help!

Although I still don’t really get why is this key being referred to as an “password”. I’m not using the free blog at WordPress.com, yet I have to possess a API Key of WordPress.com, that’s quite weird isn’t it?

It’s like, what exactly is the link between this two platforms? I mean, although they are still WordPress.com, but what is the point of having an account at WordPress.com, just to have the API Key, and not blogging or doing anything there?

WordPress.com is like have too much space for database, thus want people to create empty account there just for the purpose of getting an API Key. That’s weird..

I believe that there’s probably a reason behind this matter, but it’s just something I don’t understand.

Let’s see if anyone could shine some light into my dark room of confusion. (:

What is WordPress.com API key?

I am so confused, wondering what is this API key thingy of wordpress.com.. does anyone knows what it is?

I wanted to add in new plugins into my blog, but most of them, or rather, those which I’ve read the description and find them quite useful – they all requires WordPress.com API Key.

I remember myself coming across this “API KEY” thingy before, but I totally cannot remember where is it -.-”

I tried looking around and click on all the options I see, but still couldn’t find the right one which provides me the API Key. Could anyone help?

All help would be greatly appreciated! (:

Migrating again soon

I will be migrating my blog again soon, due to the fact that wordpress.com does not allow us to edit HTML and stuffs to customise our blog ourselves.

What the point of having a personal blog when you can’t even have it your way, your style? :p

I am going to migrate my blog to way2blog.net domain, thanks to Daryl’s help! A billion thanks to him (clap clap)

Currently the blog is still under development, am still figuring how to actually use it. I need the rights to edit it; well, will ask Daryl to help me :p

he’s the computer god afterall~ x))

How to edit HTML on WordPress ?

I finally figured out how to customize my page! But I encountered one problem – HTML! How to edit HTML codes on WordPress?

I wanted to put in my CBOX tagboard, I created a “Text” widget and paste the codes inside, I click on “save”, refresh my page – it shows nothing.

I click on the ‘edit’ to see the codes inside the text widget, I see parts and parts of the codes, it have been edited! Which is very weird. I tried a few times, and the same thing keeps appearing. ;/

Then I tried to put in my nuffnang ads units – again! The codes are modified after I click on ‘change’ (save changes). What is happening? WordPress don’t allow people to change or put any HTML codes?

Why is it that all the blog hosts opposing me.. -_-|||

Bug in Blogger’s RSS feed?

I find a bug in blogger’s rss feed! I’ll explain why.

Yesterday morning I updated my blog at around 12:51 noon. I updated my blog at ping.sg and I waited and waited..

Man, it did not update! At first I thought the problem lies on ping.sg, as a kind soul there pointed out to me that ping.sg was down for a while just now, thus didn’t update my blog (probably due to the timing)

Well, I reposted that entry with a different title at around 2:05 pm, but again, it did not update.

I tried to troubleshoot the problem, and I actually found out that Blogger did not update my blog’s RSS!!!

If you’re viewing my blog, scroll all the way down (yes, all the way DOWN) to the bottom – did you see a horizontal container looks something like this:

It’s my LIFE! xD
Rohan Online
What’s wrong with blogger?
Men are hard to please [joke]
New arrangement of Japanese class [words from my heart]
Distributing mails in army [JOKE]

Note that I just copy and paste them from my own blog on 10th June 2008 lols.

Okay, My point it, try CLICKING on the first title (Rohan Online)

Did you get a page not found error? That’s it!

That was the post at 12:51 noon! I DELETED that post yesterday! And I update my blog at 2:05 pm! It did not update!

And today’s post – I don’t know whether Blogger is going to update it or not, I’d just say I’m upset that it did not update my rss feed in my post.

If I’m wrong, and something need to be done to get my rss feed accurately, and if anyone knows how, please let me know. Thanks!

Look at this cute cat!

Oh man! Just look at it – cute right?!

I so feel like SQUEEZING him/her! hahaha!

Singapore 3 – 7 Uzbekistan

I watched this match last night live, on channel 5.

It was rather disappointing to see Singapore lose.

At first Singapore and Uzbekistan were actually tied at 2-2 at an early stage. I thought it’s going to be a close fight. But the situation turns bad, and obviously bad.

There are a few scenes in the match which reminds me of the video game – Winning Eleven.

One of them, I remembered a mid field guy from Uzbekistan got the ball at around middle of the court – he one person solo and run all the way to attack – FOUR defenders from Singapore tried to chase up to stop him.

From what I see on the TV screen… none of them can catch up! Oh my god! This is totally WINNING ELEVEN! The guy dribbling the ball totally outrun the 4 defenders! What a different in terms of speed.. size too! Almost all the headings are won by Uzbekistan also. Can obviously tell the differences in size just by looking from afar.. =.=”

Well anyway, Singapore tried their best, I’m proud of them. At least they got 3 goals! 1 true goal, follow up by 1 penalty kick, then 1 more goal. (:

Here’s a review of the game I’ve gotten from the news press sites:

SINGAPORE — Uzbekistan overwhelmed Singapore for a 7-3 away win in their World Cup qualifier Monday that extended its advantage atop Group 4.

The match was locked 2-2 after 33 minutes before the Uzbeks slotted three goals before the halftime break to take control of the contest. The win put Uzbekistan on a perfect nine points from three games, with Singapore on three.

Saudi Arabia (three points from two games) was to host Lebanon (no points from two games) later Monday in the other group game, but regardless of the result, Uzbekistan would retain group leadership at the halfway mark of the round-robin, with the top two teams to go through to the next stage.

Kuruvchi teammates Timur Kapadze, in the 10th minute, and Victor Karpenko, in the 22nd minute, twice gave Uzbekistan an early lead, but Singapore responded each time with Aleksandar Duric in the 16th minute and Mustafic Fahrudin from the penalty spot in the 31st minute.

Victor Djeparov put Uzbekistan in front for good with his first goal in the 34th minute. Vitaliy Denisov made it 4-2 to the visitors in the 42nd minute before Djeparov recorded his second in the 42nd minute.

Aziz Ibragimov found the net for Uzbekistan’s sixth in the 62nd minute. John Wilkinson narrowed the deficit for the host in the 73rd minute before Dynamo Kyiv striker Maxim Shatskikh rounded off the scoring two minutes from the end of regulation time.

Goddamn XTrap

I damn hate XTrap!

If you don’t know what is Xtrap – it’s a guarding program which comes together with certain MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) games.

Some examples of games which adopt xtrap are Gunz Online, CabalSEA and such. Of Course, there are other guarding program like Gameguard, which is adopt by MapleSEA.

Well anyway, my purpose is – I’m so damn pissed off by that goddamn xtrap! I login to CabalSEA, tried my best to get into Channel 1 trade channel and open my shop at a hot spot.

Then later, I wanted to play DotA. So I open the program – Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne.

AND IT AUTO RESTART MY COMPUTER!!

Well and that’s not the end YET!

When my computer finally restarts finish, the moment I click something or tried to open any folders or files, IT AUTO RESTART MY COMPUTER AGAIN!

At first I thought it was kinda screwed up so restarts my computer for 2 times. I waited for it to restart finish and tried to manually restart it so that it will recover to normal mode..

The moment I click on the START button on the bottom left corner of my screen, IT AUTO RESTART MY COMPUTER AGAIN!!!

I’m so pissed off! It goes on a few more times – in total, my computer has been AUTO RESTART BY XTRAP FOR 6 TIMES IN A ROW!!!!

Totally pissed off by it. How did I stop it from auto restarting??

I force shutdown my computer by pressing and holding down the POWER ON button on my CPU!! =.=

I don’t think there’s any other way though!

Random post

Okay larh, gonna go play Cabal for awhile man~ hahaa

cheerios!!

Great lesson in life!

I felt myself growing! Not physically though, more like mentally! :D

In the past, I always let the evil side of me took control of my sense, especially when I’m very angry or very worked up. So hard to control.

And not only that, when I’m nervous, I couldn’t hide it – my body language will betray me, and even if it doesn’t, I can’t communicate well and this and that. I know it myself.

Furthermore, I am super impatient. Very very impatient! ):

But now, I felt myself really growed up and is getting more and more patient! And most importantly, I started to get to be able to control feelings!

Anyway, we had our communication skills presentation yesterday! I was SOOOO nervous! I hate presentation all along, because I’m so easily nervous and couldn’t speak well!

So what if I get A2 in my O`levels english?

Being able to write doesn’t mean being able to speak! I speak mandarin/chinese in most time of my life! Unless neccessary and needed, or else I won’t speak in english! ;/

Okay, back to topic. Communication skills! I must mention this – this semester is so far, the one and only time where I’m actually LOOKING FORWARD to every communication skills classes!

Mr Lim is a very nice, friendly, and easy going person. Being in his class has not much stress, instead, it’s sooooo interesting that it become an enjoyment! :D

Today I introduce some of my friends to him, it turns out quite well and they have good impression of him also. More like they’re being teach by some… you know, those kind of lecturers :X and Mr Lim is EXACTLY opposite of them! Envy right?! :p

There is so much more to touch up for our JavaJive program! Hope we can make it! I want to win man!!

I’m looking forward to winning a WII console! Or even an iTouch! hahahah!

Well actually, win WII or iTouch don’t really matters, what matters is the experience and the opportunity. Shall warp up this JavaJive talk next time when the competition ends! :p

Oh yeah, take a look at this link —

http://www.sun-promo.com/javajive/teams.html

Did you spot me?! :D

Today is thursday! But I missed it! – thursday is not a thursday without seeing my idol around.

Oh man~ that’s damn upsetting.

I actually had a mood swing and lost my mood this afternoon for not being able to see her! D:

Well anyway, she’s gonna leave my life soon. ):

I just realise my post is rather long today. haha. I was just typing out anything which comes to my mind, so it’s a bit disorganised.

But anyway! It doesn’t matter right? I split them into chunks and chunks, grouping related thoughts together.

So just skip one chunk if it doesn’t interest you~ :p

and feel free to so called “rearrange” the contents yourself as you read them! Because they’re obviously not in sequence xD

Had our japanese test yesterday too~ The paper is super difficult! The standard is again, so much higher than OE1. I just hope I can pass it

Frankly speaking, I only read up the vocabs and structures of the tested chapters, one time each.. Got not much time to study and still got to prepare for communication skills presentation just one day before the japanese test!

As for the oral expression, I think maybe still can pass.

Thanks to communication skills presentation on that day’s morning, I wasn’t too nervous during the oral test.

Also thanks to Wei Kiang, the japanese god, and Matthias, another japanese sibeh zai guy, for teaching me and giving me tips for the oral~ billion thanks! :D

Suddenly remember that I also want to thanks James for being a very good team mate and very understanding friend during the time we’re doing communication skills presentation slides preparation~

I was quite busy due to javajive and japanese test to prepare for.. James did most of the information research before we do the slides together – that save up alot of time!

Seriously, I think we’re able to did a good job, most of the credits goes to James~ :D

Mr Lim commented that James and I had very good teamwork and he enjoyed our presentation yesterday~ damn happy! :D D

At least our effort didn’t go to drain~ and I didn’t give up my sleep for nothing! I did the cards and prepare the speech, plus some practise, all in one night that I only slept for like.. 1 and a half hour before I “wake up” and prepare to go to school.. LOL!

Anyway, can’t be confirmed yet since the grades and stuffs is not out yet~

Last but not least, a lesson learnt – good grades doesn’t mean anything. Even if all distinction also no use. Like what my friend had said, I shall quote it here:

“…. and implies that a high GPA is not borne of hard work but via underhanded means of acquiring information ….”

Still got more, but I’ll just put that line out. I don’t want to talk much about it, just a short summary:

some high GPA guy use a very underhand method to get his GPA high~ he pay lecturers to do school work for him~ he steal his friend’s work and claim it to be his and submit it~ he hug (in chinese, called BA4 ZHAN4) lecturers during lab~ he paste a whole chunks of relevant+irrelevant contents in his reports and stuffs just to earn QUANTITY marks~ he lick lecturers’ boots~ and many more!!

I shall stop advertising more of it :p

This post is super long larh! I will be stopping here. So tired! Been typing for like.. half an hour? Or even more! I’m like talking to the browser/blogger! :p

Let’s see if got people tag or what. :X

I wonder who actually read everything. hahaha!

Man Utd 1 – 1 Chelsea (Man Utd win 6-5 on penalty)

I believe that many people do watch Champions League’s finals, but well, here’s an article I found online and find it quite good among all the others which I see, so decided to share with all of you.
Manchester United became kings of Europe for the third time on a night of high drama and emotion in Moscow.

Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was the hero with a penalty save to deny Nicolas Anelka after Chelsea captain John Terry had missed the chance to win the Blues the trophy by firing his own spot-kick hit the post.

The dramatic shootout looked to be going Chelsea’s way after Petr Cech saved Cristiano Ronaldo’s effort but Terry’s miss opened the door for Sir Alex Ferguson to clinch his second Champions League crown.

As the celebrations began, you could have expected the ghosts of such giants as Duncan Edwards and George Best to be dancing with delight at the outcome.

It is 40 years since United first won the trophy with a team rebuilt by Sir Matt Busby from the survivors of that Munich disaster. Eight players lost their lives following the catastrophic events on a snow-filled German runway in February 1958.

It was fitting that United became the first English club to win the trophy 10 years later and even more apt that, half a century on, Ferguson’s men had again taken on Europe’s finest and beaten them all.

Their achievement was made even more poignant by Munich survivors Harry Gregg, Albert Scanlon, Kenny Morgans, Bill Foulkes and Sir Bobby Charlton, now a club director, who watched the drama unfold from the stands.

But modern-day football has its own heroes and the likes of Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and the unstoppable Ronaldo now trip off the tongue in the same way Best and Charlton once did.

Yet, the opening 25 minutes of the first all-English final barely lived up to its hysterical pre-match hype.

However, all that changed from the moment Ronaldo headed United in front with his 42nd goal of a memorable season.

Paul Scholes, who missed United’s last triumph through suspension in 1999, played a delightful interchange of passes with Wes Brown on the right flank.

His final return pass put Brown in the clear and the full-back’s left-foot cross found the waiting Ronaldo in space at the far post.

The Portugal international planted a firm header into the corner of the net past a static Cech to give United first blood.

Chelsea’s somewhat muted response almost brought them an equaliser in the 33rd minute when Lampard’s cross was headed back into the six-yard box by Didier Drogba.

United’s Rio Ferdinand, under pressure from Michael Ballack, was forced to head the ball towards his own goal and only a superb save from Van der Sar prevented a Chelsea equaliser.

But it required a sensational double save from Cech to deny United their second moments later.

Wayne Rooney delivered an inch-perfect 40-yard crossfield ball into the path of the ever-dangerous Ronaldo and the United goalscorer placed his cross on the head of the diving Tevez only for Cech to deny him.

Chelsea’s failure to clear the loose ball gave Michael Carrick the chance to reward their superb approach work but again Cech was equal to the task with another fine save.

The Blues began to grow in confidence as the first half approached its climax and in the 45th minute, they took advantage of a massive slice of luck to level the score.

Michael Essien’s attempted shot from 25-yards took two deflections on its way towards goal but the most telling was off the back of United captain Ferdinand.

It changed the direction of the ball into the path of Lampard, who duly supplied the finish from six yards.

Chelsea, buoyed by their flourish at the end of the first half, almost took the lead in the 54th minute.

Essien managed to get clear of the United defence but his attempted curler from the edge of the penalty area was far too high.

It was all Chelsea now but they could not force a second goal. Drogba sent a header a wide from Lampard’s corner and Ballack was just off target with a 25-yard drive.

In the 77th minute, United had the woodwork to thank when Drogba sent a 20-yard shot against Van der Sar’s left-hand upright. The Ivorian went close again four minutes from time when he just failed to convert Joe Cole’s low cross.

Ryan Giggs was introduced in place of Scholes seconds later for the Welshman to make a record 759th appearance for the Red Devils.

The game went into extra-time, and within three minutes of the restart, the woodwork came to United’s rescue again. This time it was Lampard who sent his shot crashing against the crossbar as United continued to ride their luck.

But Chelsea were almost made to pay dearly eight minutes later when Terry cleared a goalbound effort from Giggs off his own line.

Drogba was then sensationally sent off for slapping Nemanja Vidic as tempers flared on both sides.

But the lottery of penalties ensured that United clinched the trophy.

Man Utd Van der Sar, Brown (Anderson 120), Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Hargreaves, Scholes (Giggs 87), Carrick, Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney (Nani 101).

Today’s first lecture was cancelled. Thus we have 4 hours break until the next lesson starts.

That’s so irritating! I could have sleep more. Damn that tongue lecturer larh!

I’m sure he know he won’t be free today long ago, but he just don’t let us know until this morning. Can’t he just inform someone and have the message spread?!

Aww never mind! Lucky got James, Roger, and Wei Kiang accompany me eat, else I’d bored to death. LOL~

After that went to IM lab, Wei Xiong, Ee Chang, Alvin, Lychee(I don’t know his real name ;x) were there, doing their IM work.

Damn interesting! Doing 3D stuffs~ So cool! I want to learn too! :D

Here goes a great work done by Alvin, doesn’t it reminds you of someone? :P

For those who are wondering who she is, can ask him on MSN. :D

Speaking of 3D, it reminds me of design. Speaking of design, it reminds me of design school.

It’s a great school! :D I should have quit my course and go and study in design school!

Okay larh, shall stop here. Cheerios!

Is she even a human being? LOL!

Well, that gives me a great ‘push’ to go on for lessons, all the way till the end WITHOUT falling asleep at all, and stay back after school to touch up and modify our Java project!

Isn’t it great? The feeling is as though she’s my idol and I’m her crazy fans or some sort like that. LOL!

Anyway, next week we are going to present our project to our school’s director! And some high rank guy from Suns Microsystem(the company which develop java programming language) people!! I’m so nervous! xD

Shall update again! Going out to jog! Cheerios! :D

Top 10 Ways To Get Rid Of Telemarketer

Have you guys ever receive calls from telemarketer? Find it irritating and they keep calling after you hang up the call? Here are ten ways to get rid of these telemarketer!

Say, “No,” over and over. Be sure to vary the sound of each no, and keep an even tempo even as they’re trying to speak. Maybe sing a song with all “No’s” This is the most fun if you can keep going until they hang up.

If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and you could it. Ask, “How long can I keep it? Do I have to ever pay it back, or is it like that other money I borrowed before my bankruptcy?”

If they start out with, “How are you today?” say, “Why do you want to know?” Or you can say, “I’m so glad you asked, because no one seems to care these days and I have all these problems, my colon is acting up again, my rectum are sore, my pet rock just died…” When they try to get back to the sales process, just keep talking about your problems… if they persist – ask them why they don’t care.

If the person says he’s Joe Shmoe from the Acme Company, ask him to spell his name, then ask him to spell the company name, then ask for his address. Ask for landmarks. Continue asking questions about the company for as long as necessary.

This one works better if you are male: Telemarketer: “Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m with Roger Dodd Services…. You: “Hang on a second.” (few seconds pause) “Okay, (in a really husky voice) what are you wearing?”

If you get one of those pushy sales people who just won’t shut up, patiently listen to their sales pitch. When they try to close the deal, tell them that you’ll need to go get your credit card. Then, just set the phone down and go do laundry, go shopping or whatever. See how long that commission based scum waits for you to get your credit card.

If a long distance phone company calls trying to get you to sign up for their Family and Friends plan, reply, in as sinister a voice as you can, “I don’t have any friends… would you be my friend?” If that doesn’t work, say “Please.”

Tell them you work for the same company they work for. For example: Telemarketer: “This is John From Acme Sales.”
You: “Acme Sales, hey I work for them too! Which center are you calling from?”
Telemarketer: “Uh, Dallas, Texas.”
You: “Great, how’s business over there? The weather? Too bad the company has a policy against selling to employees! Oh well, see ya.”

Let the person go through their spiel, providing minimal but necessary feedback in the form of an occasional “Uh-huh, really, or, “That’s fascinating.” Finally, when they ask you to buy, ask them to marry you. They get all flustered, but just tell them you couldn’t give your credit card number to someone who’s a complete stranger. You might even find your soulmate.

Tell the telemarketer you are busy and if they will give you their phone number you will call them back. If they say they are not allowed to give out their number, then ask them for their home number and tell them you will call them at home (this is usually the most effective method of getting rid of telemarketers). If the sales person says, “Well, I don’t really want to get a call at home,” say, “Ya! Now you know how I feel.” :D
