Online virus scan sites

Many people are downloading files such as games, musics and etc.. The problem is,

- Are they safe?
- Are you sure there is no virus or trojan horses hiding inside these files?

So always scan the files before opening them on your computer! Viruses and Trojans cannot attack your computer if you did not open or to be exact, “run” them.

Here are some websites which I’d like to recommend to you guys, they allows you to scan the files before opening them,

Virus Chief
VirusChief offers a free service for online virus scan suspicious files (which *could* contain a computer virus) using several antivirus engines.

Always remember… It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Hope these helps! :)

Singapore MRT line in future

My brother sent me this image, which shows a SPECULATIVE Singapore MRT line structures. This is an modified version of the original current MRT lines structure – I find it VERY INTERESTING! Here you go:

Any comments? They even have line which go until Johor Bahru in Malaysia! Haha! Kind of fake but I believe it’s interesting!

It did make me feel “WOW” when I first saw it! (:

Answer to ‘A man was traveling to Kasoa’

The answer is ONE! Good job to whoever get it correct ;)

A man was traveling to Kasoa

A man was traveling to Kasoa
At the bus stop, he met a man with 7 wifes.  Each wife has 12 sons and 12 daughters
Each daughter of the man’s wife had 4 sons and 7 daughters, each son of the man’s wife had 7 sons and 4 daughters.
Each grand daughter had 4 friends.

How many people got to Kasoa?

The above was a question which is very logical, but I was calculating it in a very mathematical way until I always went crazy. LOL!

I received this from an email, where you can use the answer of this question to open a file attached to the email. I showed it to James and we were trying hard to solve this mathematical question.

In the end, when we finally found out the answer, we were like “WTF” LOL..

OKay, so now YOU shall try it! Feel free to post your answer on my tagboard! I’ll release the answer tomorrow night! x))

My new phone! (W760i)

This is the first time I’m using Sony Ericsson phone! I’ve used Samsung phone once before, forget what model.. I used Nokkia 6210 when I was in primary 6 I remember. Then Nokia 8210 when I was in sec 1? Hmms.. then changed to Samsung phone or something.. then change to Nokia 6510.

Later on I remember I changed to use Panasonic GD88, the Jay Chou phone. hahaha. Use all the way until my poly life then change to Nokia 6111. Then today, finally Sony ericsson W760i! wahahas.

Napfa Fitness Test (2nd try)

First of all, I PASSED!

Although I got a sickening “BRONZE” award, but guess what? At least I passed!

Those who have visited my blog before will know that I failed my first round of napfa fitness test! Because my 2.4 KM Run failed by around 20 seconds – to be exact, 18 seconds.

I retake the fitness test again today and here’s the results:

Sit-Ups – 50 – A

Standing Broad Jump – 242 – B

Sit & Reach – 51 – A

Pull Up – 7 – C

Shuttle Run – 9.2 – A

2.4km Run – 12.54 – E

Who says “2.4km Run” can run is can run, cannot run is cannot run, cannot be trained in a few days’ time?!

My 2.4km Run improved from 13.38 to 12.54! Although it’s just a small improvement, but it is a huge difference between, BRONZE AWARD + PASS, or FAIL!

Determination is the most valuable asset I have. I believe I can do even better! By next semester, during my NS enlistment, I aimed to get 30 points in napfa test! I mean it.

I’ll try my best~!!!

Nokia phone :/

My phone spoiled again. Seriously I don’t know what is so wrong.

I don’t know is it me or the phone, it just won’t last! Damn it.

I asked many of my friends who uses Nokia phone before, and now using Samsung or Sonic Ericsson etc, they tell me that Nokia phone always got problem, especially slide phone.

My phone is slide phone! Nokia 6111 :x

Well anyway, just to announce to my friends:

Do not contact me via handphone, my handphone is spoiled. If you’re looking for me, please contact me via MSN. Or send me a email and leave a message on MSN (I can receive offline messages). I will check my email regularly.

Thanks!

Pictures of 12th July’s outing with my Shizuoka friends from Japan

This post will be purely pictures and pictures and more pictures! Here you go!

Enjoy!

p.s. by looking at all these pictures alone don’t really makes much sense. read this post to find out more on 12th July 2008.

Japanese Role-play

Tomorrow got japanese role play! And quiz I think.. it’s so gonna be a disaster like last semester!

I always get super nervous upon doing role play! And I always screw up my quiz! Especially the listening test!! I’m so screwed in listening test!

They are like rapping quickly and playing tricks with my ears.. I can’t get to understand at all! Aww man..

Currently trying to get the script into my head! By the way, my japanese friends email me the pictures already! :D

I’ll post them up tomorrow when I’m free! Now busy :p

Damn, I miss them! Hope we get to keep in contact! ;D

Napfa test (1st round)

Oh my god! I had napfa fitness test today!

Here’s my results:

Sit-ups – 45 – A

Standing Broad Jump – 250 – B

Sit-and-reach – 53 – A

Pull up – 7 – C

Shuttle run – 9.1 – A

2.4 KM Run – 13.38 – FAIL

Damn it! I failed my napfa test!

I’m like DAMN SAD MAN~!! I didn’t expect myself to fail my napfa test! I aimed for GOLD somemore!

This is the first time I get a NON-GOLD results in NAPFA TEST! Somemore straight away get a FAIL.. what the hell~!!! At least drop to silver or bronze I won’t be so sad =.=

Anyway, it’s good that I failed also, in some ways. This is a very good warning call which reminds me to work out on my fitness. I don’t want to be a loser in National Service (NS). I want to be outstanding. I must work hard to improve my fitness!

I aim to get GOLD with all stations full points; that is, a total of 30 points!

I used to be able to get it when I was in my secondary school. I old liao larh! But then again, I AIM to do it! Let’s hope I can really do it!

Hmms, it was quite surprising today. I have been training my pull up for a few weeks already, and I find myself improved alot! Last time when I first started to get back my shape in pull ups, I have problem doing 3 times.

Then, after one week, I am able to do 5 times.

Today, I have no problem doing 7 times at all. To get gold, it requires us to get C and above – that is, 7 or 8 times to get a C. I didn’t know the results will be printed out, I thought only the overall (Gold, Silver, Bronze) will be printed, so I didn’t do more.

The same goes to other stations! I believe that I’ll have no problem getting full marks for all other stations as well!

HOWEVER, 2.4 KM RUN KILLED ME!

This is my first time taking the 2.4 km run straight after the 5 stations! Firstly, I’m not used to it, secondly, I was quite nervous and stressed as over 100 people run together in lane 1 and lane 2 of the track field.. Lastly, I was really very tired even before the 2.4 km run starts. =.=”

Anyway, I will be training hard to reach my goal! From tomorrow onwards, every night run 2 km ~ 3 km!!! If I can pass my NAPFA next week during the retest, then it’ll be good.

But no matter what, I’ll aim to get full marks of 30 points during my NS enlistment NAPFA test next semester! All the best to me! (:

Memorable day with my japanese friends

Have you ever shout to your friends, “行きましょう!” (translated as let’s go) and start running in a straight line on orchard road? I did it today!

I’ll start from after I’ve meet up with my japanese friends from Shizuoka Gakuen High School, at their hotel, York Hotel.

At first I thought I’m just joining them to walk around in Orchard road, do some shopping with them. In the end, we’re bringing them somewhere else, and we’ve got to plan the trip on the spot. That’s really cool and challenging!

On our side, we got Wei Ni, Hwee Loo, and myself – 3 people. On their side, they are all from our group, Tetsushi san, Junpei san, Yuto san, Masaru san, Takuma san and Naoki san.

Basically our destination is different from the other groups, the other groups’ main objective is to go shopping, or go beach to play or something, our group want to have their lunch for something cheap and unique; thus we go separate ways.

As you know, food at Orchard road are not cheap, we got to find other places. Plan and plan.. we finally conclude the discussion by agreeing to go Chinatown.

We chatted, walked, tried BAGUA, and finally we reach the place where there are many local delights – delicious and very “Singapore” food. Can see they’re very hungry at that time~

So, they got their food, and we treat them with sugar cane drinks, Rojak, Satay, and Beancurd~ Yuto san LOVES spicy food! He eat until face red red still so high ;p and the others can’t really tahan spicy food. It was damn funny to see Masaru san’s change of reaction when he put the Rojak into his mouth… OMG! KAWAII! hahaha. Naoki san and Ito san got face change too xD so funny! They so cute hahaha!

Okay, then we went to take a walk around Chinatown after lunch. Showed them the old buildings and things traditional stuffs sold around here, and explained some Singapore stuffs to them, such as during chinese new year, the chinatown is flooded with people, very beautiful street, trishaw and etc..

They said they understand, I hope they really do understand my stories~ :D

We even walked into the Food festival place, it was crowded and there are stalls selling Hokkien food, Cantonese food, and this and that. Later on, we went to a Chinese temple (I forgot what name is that temple!) and walked one round~ showing them chinese stuffs, and there were many people chanting! ;X

Walk and walk~ Then decided to go Clark Quay as they wanted to see Singapore River.

We went for a walk there and took photos! One of them is damn hilarious, we’re standing under the hot sun, which is very hot even for me, but I can stand it, no problem; but they seems to be really suffering under the sun, i think they are not very used to this kind of Summer weather (seriously, the ‘sun’ at that time, is very very hot)

We JUMPED and Wei ni took the photo while we’re in the air. We are not able to get to configure their japanese camera to take multi-shot, but luckily Wei Ni got good timing :x she’s able to capture nicely when we’re in the air LOL

Continue walking~ and we saw the ride beside Singapore River, the one which bounce you high up and drop you down, then stop you in mid air and bounce you high up again.

Yuto san, Masaru san, and Takuma san went to try the ride. It was really fun looking at how they enjoyed the ride! They saw the ride, stopped and see, then very keen to try it ;D Ito san took video of it, I hope he sent me the video together with the pictures when he’s back to Japan! ;D

Time’s reaching soon, thus we hurrily walked back to take MRT.

When we arrived at Orchard Road, there’s a part which freaks me out. Wei Ni and Masaru san went missing! We thought we lost them, oh my god. Ito san and myself, we’re counting the heads..

“一、 二、 三、 四、 五…” (translated as ‘one, two, three, four, five’)

Hwee Loo called Wei Ni and find out that they’re at the ticket machine there. Phew, that’s a relief. hahaha. Scared me!

Then after that, we run back to York Hotel as they are almost late. I lead the way while Wei Ni and Hwee Loo jog behind them to make sure they’re with us, we can’t possibly lost them while running! The whole road is pretty crowded at that time.

We jog to the escalator to get out of the MRT station, then in front got some people who blocked the whole place, we got no choice but to wait until we reach the top, when those people move away, then we can get to run.

It was damn hilarious! We’re jogging in a straight line without planning, we just run a straight line in the middle of Orchard Road, from Orchard MRT Station, all the way to York Hotel!

There’s one part where I made a wrong turn and we ran to a deadend, nonethelessly, there’s stairsway up there. Logically, there should be a stairsway for us to walk up. But somehow it was the other side of the place, on Lucky Plaza.

Time is running short. I asked them whether they want to climb up the so-called-fence thingy, and they show positive and go ahead! I also faster climb up.. They’re even faster than me! Oh my god, I’m old already!! x)

All the way to the top, and start jogging again. The whole journey is damn interesting and funny! Time to time I will turn back and look at them, count the heads and make sure they’re together, and ask them to be careful of the road whenever we crosses a road – I see a row of kawaii japanese boys jogging in a straight line ;D SO CUTEEEEEEEEE~!!

My stamina ran out in the middle of the run, but I hold a responsibility of bringing them back, and they are late, I can’t possibly stop and walk or ask them run by themselves, I push myself and succeed in completing the whole journey!

We reached York Hotel!

We chat with their sensei (teachers) and principal, rested for awhile until Ito san they all went down with their luggage and about to go take the bus which is to bring them to Airport.

We stand in somewhat a circle and talked for awhile, took photos~ aww, so touching scene T.T

They ask me when will I be going to Japan. This made me really upset because during NYP’s turn to go to their school for exchange programme in Shizuoka, I’m having FYP (Final Year Project) and I cannot be excused to go oversea.

I almost cried out when I look at their expression when I tell them I cannot go their school in September. )):

But I tell them in future I will go to Shizuoka and visit them, I hope I really get a chance to do so! They are nice people and this is really a good exchange programme, we not only had it in school, walk around the school, we even have our free time and plan the trip for them and bring them around Singapore.

Although it’s just a short 3 to 4 hours, we had alot of fun! The whole trip is memorable and I’m sure all of us enjoyed it alot! Even Wei Ni and Hwee Loo are glad they came, it was really truly “exchange programme”, also known as “交流会” (Koryukai).

If there’s another chance to interact with them again, I’ll still surely join them! The experience is so precious! Ahh, I want to go visit them in Shizuoka, Japan!

(translated as ‘I want to go Shizuoka!!’)

Okay, I’ll update the pictures we took once I got them from Wei Ni and Hwee Loo, and from Ito san they all when they’re back in Japan. I’m so gonna miss them!

Last but not least, big big thanks to Hwee Loo and Wei Ni, today will not be as fun if you two were not there. I alone will never be able to plan all these trips and stuffs, and talk to them etc etc.. there are so many to thanks the two of you! ;D Let’s go out again some other day, and hope we can visit them together in Shizuoka, Japan! ;D

今日はとても楽しいです! (translated as ‘today is very fun!’)

family love is the most important thing in life

I’ve got many things which I want to talk about. First of all, I’ll talk about one of the software that we have to use for my project, DotNetNuke.

DotNetNuke is an open source web application framework ideal for creating, deploying and managing interactive web, intranet, and extranet sites securely.

First of all, got to thanks Mr Ling for the help. We’re so lost and doesn’t know how to configure it, been struggling for a few days already. Thanks alot! We’ll not let you down, we’ll do well in our project :)

“We” refers to James and myself.

And I’m happy, because my family just celebrated my birthday with me! hahaas. The cake was definitely delicious, i love my family. Everyone’s so lovely and nice.

I strongly believe in the fact that family love is the most important thing in life.

Tomorrow is the big day, student exchange programme!

私はグループろくの リーダですよ。:D

Birthday gathering @ Swensen

Anyway, went to meet my old friends today, it was short but fun. Love the feeling. hahaa. Remind me of the old days where we slack and play together like no tomorrow and doesn’t feel stress at all.

Life’s all about having fun and playing game. It’s so different from now. All of us still looks quite the same now, didn’t change much since secondary school – it’s quite amazing :D

All my other secondary school friends either smoke or dye hair or this or this, only our group of people are still the same. wahahaas. Except that I’m fatter now, LOL.

Anyway, still the feel of us, Rong Yao, Man Chun, Wei Kian and myself. Jason got things on last minute, couldn’t make it. Terence, for some reasons also, couldn’t make it. Albert, as usual, pang seh again. I don’t know what to say larh.

Overall today’s a fun day, I was already quite happy when I see them, even before we start talking. Somemore from very far far can recognise them liao lorh, brothers are brothers :p

We had dinner at Swensen, the food was quite alright. Wahahaas. After that no place to go, since it’s a sunday and we just ate. Decided to meet out some other days to mahjong, gaming, LAN, basketball or what de~

Borrowed game from Man Chun, hope can play it soon. Got to finish up my projects and work first – hope to finish them as soon as possible! So I can start gaming! Alot of games with great storyline I wanna play..:D

Okay larh, cheerios

Windows updates could not be installed

As shown on topic, here’s the screen shot:

I’ve tried like 4 or 5 times, even restarted my computer for a few times just to install these updates, but to no vail. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.

It detected and tried to install the updates, but the updates could not be installed.

let’s hope I can get to know why those windows updates could not be installed! :/

La Bi Xiao Xing in Real Life~

La Bi Xiao Xin (蜡笔小新) is a well known cartoon character of all age. I believe you know him too, or at least, heard of him, don’t you?

There is this kid in Korea who looks very alike to him. I’d like to share it with you guys. Here it goes~

Enjoy! :D

Just an e-commerce website? it’s not that simple~

I’m quite tempted to do a e-commerce website after getting involved with this “e-commerce” thingy for quite some time.

I’ve been doing ICT project management project on e-commerce website, and also, currently working on the nike e-commerce website. All these e-commerce made me go and study on what is actually an e-commerce site like, and I guess I learnt alot.

It’s not just a place to sell things, it may seem that simple, yet it is not. There is many knowledge to it, it’s not easy to be explained. Anyway, take a few steps back and take a closer look, think about it, and you’ll see a bigger picture of it. Trust me (:

Shall update again tomorrow, off to bed, nights everyone~

Life’s tough without computer

My computer is finally back in action!

I have been a few days where my computer was down, life’s tough without my computer around – not being able to play games, not being able to watch shows via DVD, not being able to surf the net nor read up information in the internet! Life’s damn boring without computer~

Many people I got to thanks, first is Daryl for helping me with everything again, can’t imagine how dead I am if he tells me “I’m busy, get lost.” Oh my god, I can’t imagine that.

Next got to thanks Kun Long for lending me harddisk to back up my files, thanks Ivan for lending me Windows XP installation disc.

Also got to thanks Mr Anthony for lending me the laptop to do my projects, he rocks! :D

And thanks Roger and James for helping me to install the related softwares for doing the projects~

I haven’t started doing anything though.. just got home.

Went to Northpoint with Matthias and Wei Kiang after japanese class today, wanted to buy present for exchange programme next wednesday; But to no vail. The gift shop which was originally there has closed down and the “Singapore related” stuffs which are sold in Popular originally was not there as well. Oh man…

Matthias went home after that, while I accompanied Wei Kiang to game at Time Zone. It was fun, I think we played for like 1 hour or so there. The game was by right, quite boring, but somehow it just goes interesting when we’re playing with friends. LOL~ cause’ I used to have that game in Playstation last time :p

Anyway, shall look for presents tomorrow in the gift shops at Causeway point, since I’m going to meet my old friends there for dinner. It’s a gathering and also to celebrate my birthday. Cool isn’t it? :D

I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

Cheerios!

Windows – task bar icons disappearing

Ever encountered problems when using Windows platform? Ever have your icons missing? Yes, icons in the task bar! Congratulations! Your computer have been inflected with virus!

In fact, it’s the area at the bottom right of your desktop – I also not sure what it’s called. Whether it’s activity bar, task bar or what. Task bar sounds the closest though.

It’s the place where your sound manager, Windows Live messenger icon, network manager and etc icons goes. Any idea where it is at now? :P

How to know whether your computer have been inflected by it? Well, when you boot up your computer, your windows live messenger is supposed to sign in by itself right? (that is, when you enabled the ‘automatically sign in’ items and choose ‘remember me’)

Ever boot up your computer and never see it automatically sign in? – you don’t see an windows live messenger icon on the bottom right of your computer screen

Then all of a sudden, someone talk to you on msn – be it a nudge, or just some messages like ”Hi!”, aren’t you surprised that you’re not supposed to be in MSN (no icon on bottom right) and yet people can talk to you?

Actually you’ve been signed in automatically already, due to the unknown virus (yes, unknown. I know him but he dont know me, i dont know whether someone has named it already or not.) have inflected your system! This could happens to other icons as well.

My previous pc’s anti virus icon was disappeared too. That was quite saddening. Anyway, how could you get to access your anti virus or windows live messenger if you cannot see the icons?

Simply go to c:\\program files where you stored your files respectively, and double click on the application icon can already.. the icon will return back to place; although you’ll never know when it will went off (to drink coffee? :x ) again.

How to solve it? Reformat your computer! Just like me. Eh, I got more problems other than this, so it’s actually worth it to reformat my computer. hehes.

If I got any information wrong, please feel free to correct me! Because all the above contents are what being concluded by myself, there’s no reference to any other sources, so it might not be a virus at the end – then i don’t know what it is already ;x

Anyway, cheers! Do visit my blog more often!! :D

Student exchange programme with japanese high school next week

Next week Nanyang Polytechnic will be having a student exchange programme with Shizuoka Gakuen High School!

Next wednesday! 9th July… just nice on my birthday! haha. Also, on the day where we’ll be having our mock interview! >.<

I really enjoyed the student exchange programme last year. It was totally great. You can find my last year Octocber’s post by using the search button on the right –>

simply search for “student exchange program” can already.. haha.

Here are some photos we took last during the previous exchange program with Hamamatsu Higashi High School~

Miss them loads! Hope next week’s student exchange programme would be a memorable one too!

Side track abit, I received my early birthday present from Daryl, it’s a ultra cute i-buddy for Windows live messenger. I’ll take a picture and blog about it next time, gotta go now, going to reformat my computer.

Cheerios! Do remember to tag my board!

Windows XP Professional SCREWED UP!!!!

Oh my god! It’s totally screwed! Erm, I meant, my Windows XP Professional edition installation CD! Not the software itself.

In fact, I find Windows XP Professional edition even better than Windows Vista. Well, it just my personal opinion. I’m not going to explain much about the difference between this two edition of Windows, nor am I going to do a compare and contrast of them regarding actual usage in the real world (yes, not just differences on the technical part, but also differences of them when they are being used by the users)

Well anyway, back to the point. My Windows XP Professional edition installation disc is spoiled. Actually my friend told me before, but I got no choice since I got to reformat my computer, and I only have this disc, and I didn’t want to borrow from my friends as it is quite troublesome for them.

So I used it to install. I didn’t get prompted for any errors though. I thought everything was installed fine. After the installation, things seems to be working fine, just that it’s kind of lag. Yes, it still lags like before reformatting. But at least now, it looks somewhat cleaner?

Anyway, I just use it as per normal. Until one day – I got to start doing my projects, because time is running short and I got a lot of work which are needed to be done; yet none have been started.

I tried to install related programs such as Apache HTTP Server, MySQL and others… all of them didn’t work!

And the error is something which I couldn’t debug. Here’s some screenshots of the errors:

It’s damn annoying. I can’t do any work at all.

Kind of upset nowadays. Been super stressed, and I didn’t do well in my common tests as well. So far only know my results for database management and Web 2.0 – both elective modules. Tomorrow going to get back my Open source module results, it’s gonna be either this of that. Of course, I hope for ‘that’, but what if I got ‘this’… I’ll be damn sad.

Hope can get back good results~ alright! Back to do my Japanese composition!

I’ll update again soon and talk about the “Missing icon in Windows notification area” :D
