Tips & Guide on Restaurant City @ Facebook

Nowadays, a lot of people on Facebook are quite into the trend of playing Restaurant City, created by Playfish; the same creator of the addictive game, Pet Society.

My restaurant may not be the best on out there (definitely not!), but I’m quite sure that I’m going up quickly. Today, I’m going to share some knowledge which I discovered as I play the game.

To get ingredients, simply log in to your Facebook account and go to Restaurant City application – a daily freebie will be given to you.

Also, visit your friends’ restaurant! There is this first-time-visit bonus ingredient for you to get from all your friends whom have also installed Restaurant City!

In addition to the above two ways, there is one more way – by answering the Food Quiz daily and getting the answers correct, it gives you a free ingredient too! :D

A very good tips of getting your Gourment Points (GPs) to raise quickly and level up, is to keep your employees happy!

Happy Employees equals Efficient Workers!

For me, I always make sure that my employees’ happiness is above 80% – the moment it dropped below 80%, I give them Water to drink; it heals 25% Happiness.

Many people say, why waste the money? Let it drop until at least 75% then drink water, or put them to rest, save money!

However, in my humble opinion, this kind of money seriously cannot be stingy one… it actually affects alot (from what I observed). If you are stingy on saving this money, your restaurant’s popularity will never exceed 40 points.

One very important thing to take note is to actually make a maze in your restaurant. No! Not the funny funny kind of maze you’re currently thinking of! :p

Simply put some obstacles near the entrance, by getting your customers to walk a further distance before getting to sit down, gives more time for your poor little waiter to clear the table and cleaners to wipe it clean :D This aids in keeping the customer happy too, since the programmer doesn’t give the customer a “irritated” meter which ensures that the customer reaches the table as soon as possible? :D

Last but not least, my final tips to give you guys is that to FOCUS ON ONE RECIPE! It helps a lot. The higher the level of a dish, the more Popularity boost it gives your restaurant per Thumbs-up by your customer.

Meal level to thumbs up conversion
Level 1 = +1.0
Level 2 = +1.2
Level 3 = +1.4
Level 4 = +1.6
Level 5 = +1.8
Level 6 = +2.0
Level 7 = +2.2
Level 8 = +2.4
Level 9 = +2.6
Level10 = +2.8

Toilets

Toilets are for some customers whom need them after having their meal, and if you don’t provide them with it, your restaurant’s popularity won’t raise (might drop instead). You need a cleaner to keep your toilet clean – they gets dirty after used by 4 customers ;)

Retro Acade

They are something which could keep your customers entertained while waiting for seats to be available. You see, when all your tables and chairs are occupied, customers whom just came in, might go to the retro acade and play for awhile, then if any existing customers finish their meal and left, these customers whom are playing acade, would go and have the seat.

However, customers whom come in to play acade doesn’t mean they 100% will go and have meal though ;)

Benefits for getting 50.0 Popularity

Getting your popularity to 50.0 gives you a higher rate of customers coming into your restaurant.

E.g. Restaurant with 20.0 popularity has a rate of 10 customers coming in per minute, then restaurant with 40.0 popularity will has a rate of 20 customers coming in per minute!

higher customers rate = more thumbs/money/gourment points

Benefit for Level-ing up variety of dishes

In fact, you just need a level 10 dish from each category – Appetizer, Main, Dessert. Getting a dish to a high level allows you to get more thumbs up points:

As mentioned in my guide, a level 10 dish gets +2.8 points per thumbs up per customer compared to +1.0 points gotten by a level 1 dish.

The only permenent benefit of level-ing a dish is to gain more points – 3 is sufficient. However, you can try to get 10 dishes (should be 10 dishes if I didn’t remember wrongly ;) ) to level 10 to unlock the gold trophy under the achievements section.

    I’m not quite convinced on the rest part.

    I am on level 23 with 49.9-50.0 popularity. :) I never gave my employees food. Just rested them by the time they reach the health of 80%.

    The reason why I got the maximum popularity?

    * Buy stuffs. Once you redesign your resto, people will go in and out of your resto :)
    * Rest your employees before they reach 80%. :)
    * Never leave your resto open if your employees are resting. :)

    We have common thinking on the part where we recover our employees’ energy, it’s just that we use different ways.

    You choose to let them rest, while I choose to feed them food.

    The reason why I give them food is because I don’t want to waste time letting them to rest.

    I like to let my employees rest because I’m horrible broke, can barely even buy water.

    Though it takes forever for them to recover to 100%, I know a way to let them rest longer without your popularity decreasing. All you have to do if remove the door or put something in front of it. Then, just find something else to do XD

    I don’t think there are other ways to get ingredients except for the 3 methods I mentioned in my post.

    I can suggest another way to you, that is, to add other people who also play Restaurant City, and get the 1st visit’s ingredient.

    You can surely find alot of people whom also play restaurant city by visiting the forums. :)

    Yes, so far, the highest level in Restaurant City is level 27, there is no more further leveling up and any other additional things you could get ):

    Regarding the 3:1 ratio on cooks to tables – it also do depends on your table arrangement – are they too scattered? Are your waiters in good position in delivering them in time?

    I want to share a new hint with you…

    As for the gifts’ trophies, you can just send yourself anything, you will receive a message telling that you received a gift :) this will increment the counter of the gifts sent, so that you can get the trophies without losing any of your stuff and without searching for a safe trader to send back the gifts ;)

    Yes, I believe it is possible, however, I’m not able to achieve that due to not having the money to buy the items for arrangement of my restaurant, and also – my dishes were not yet level 10 & I doesn’t have enough staffs to have my restaurant work smoothly.

    You don’t need cleaners for the toilets. Once they get dirty, get rid of them (“stock” them, and then put them out again, and they’ll be good as new =)

    Yes that’s a good suggestion! However, I would prefer getting a cleaner to clean it up as I’m lazy to keep stocking the toilets time to time – and I don’t want to lost the flow of customers whom are having meal at the moment (when go to decoration mode and comes back, all customers are lost) ;)

    I’m new to playing RC, and my problem is…. there are too many customers coming to my shop, and there aren’t enough tables and chairs, i have 3 workers so far..what should i do? the next time i login I’ll have 500+ $$, but all my workers are dead, so i had to spend the money to revive them to 75% and i get back a few gold coins…. what should I do??

    Just in case you didn’t know, you can buy tables and chairs from the decoration mode and place them in your restaurant.

    Feel free to read on my following post & adopt the concept of tables arrangement:

    If you don’t want to spend the money to revive your workers, you can let them go to rest and come back few hours later to task them with jobs again.

    I’d recommend you let them work when you’re around to supervise, and put them to rest & closes the restaurant (block or remove the door) when you’re going to close Restaurant City application.

    I usually don’t like making them rest because my gourmet points wont add up. I just give them food to increase happiness. when I’m sure I cant log back in for a long time, like a day, I just block the door and let them rest instead of making them work. coz they’ll probably be dead when i come back.

    Yes, I agree. In fact, in my guide, I have also pointed out that by feeding our employees with water every time their energy went below 80%, is a good way of not only gain money and GP effectively, it also maintain the restaurant’s popularity.

    i have 3 cooks 1 waiter and i constructed the restaurant to be a maze, they nid 10 secs to get to a seat so my waiter have enuff time to clear.

    1. If I can contain the popularity up to 50.0 – What benefit I will get from it?
    2. If I correct a lot of ingredient and use those ingredient to level up the variety of dish or more dish – What is the benefit I will get from the game.

    I am still confuse while I play the game because I have a lot of ingredient and alway remain the popularity up to 50.0 but seem right noting happend to my game.

    1. Getting your popularity to 50.0 gives you a higher rate of customers coming into your restaurant.

    E.g. Restaurant with 20.0 popularity has a rate of 10 customers coming in per minute, then restaurant with 40.0 popularity will has a rate of 20 customers coming in per minute!

    higher customers rate = more thumbs/money/gourment points

    2. In fact, you just need a level 10 dish from each category – Appetizer, Main, Dessert. Getting a dish to a high level allows you to get more thumbs up points:

    As mentioned in my guide, a level 10 dish gets +2.8 points per thumbs up per customer compared to +1.0 points gotten by a level 1 dish.

    The only permenent benefit of level-ing a dish is to gain more points – 3 is sufficient. However, you can try to get 10 dishes (should be 10 dishes if I didn’t remember wrongly ;) ) to level 10 to unlock the gold trophy under the achievements section.

    Either you get it from “first visit” to any of your friends’ restaurant to get it for free, or when you’re in your restaurant, browse to somewhere outside of your restaurant – there would be someone selling ingredients there, you can buy from her. Another way is to get it through getting the correct answers from the daily quiz which you get everyday.

    I’ve never had trouble getting to 50.0 popularity. Im at level 20 now, and have had 50 pop at least at 17. I also never had a real problem running the people down to 75 before feeding. the 5% does not make a difference worthy of acknowledgment.

    The maze part is corrrect. I build a circle with tables in the mid, cooks on the outskirts of the circle. The circle is up to the wall, so most customers have to walk all the way around the circle to enter. An extra 10-15 paces.

    Try to keep more cooks then waiters. A cook takes like 20 seconds to make a dish. It lakes much less time for a waiter to tend 5 tables in that time. I also never leave a person on cleaner for more time then it takes to clean the toilets through.

    Ive also been able to ignore the dirty toilets, and optimize the number of guests being sat so that I can maintain 50 popularity despite the toilets.

Regarding the question, create a maze for your customer to walk a long way to reach the tables, then beside the area where you put your tables; put some waiting chairs – this should keep them occupied until the existing customers left. Get some acade machines would help too. ;)

    This shows that the table/staff arrangement that you guys have is good enough to override the drop of employees’ morale from >80 to a lower level. That’s good. :)

    What i mean by the employees’ morale “drop” to a “lower level” is that, when your employees’ morale is higher than 80, their “Face” or “Icon” shown is a very smiley one. When their morale drops to below 80, it changes – not all tables/staffs arrangment can retain their restaurant’s popularity after this drop of employee morale :)

    Actually… If your staff energy drops below a 70, maintaining a 50 rating is actually very simple. It all depends on your layout.

    If you wait for them to hit 80% to refill, you’re wasting a LOT of money. Like, it’s flying out the window. I promise, if you lay your chairs and stoves out right, you can wait for the energy to drop to 50%!! Before needing to refill.

    You’ll notice that water costs 60 coins, but the apple only 110. It might be only 10$ under 120 (what two waters would cost) but you will actually make money. Think of it like this, for the time it takes each employee to reach 80% energy (about 20 minutes) they will each on average make only 50 coins. But if you wait for it to hit 50% (which is about 40 minutes) each waiter will make at least on average 130 coins.

    See? Don’t waist your money. Get your popularity up to 50. It’s not very hard.

    hey thanks 4 the tips! and btw, for those who are really despo for the xtra waiter instead of cleaner at lower lvls, if u got the time, u can actually clean the toilets by urself, simply go into decorate mode, remove the toilets, and then add them back in the same spot lol.
    NOTE: Very taxing, therfore nt suited 4 those high lvls de lol.

    Ok guys,my name here is monshraider.Just wanted to leave you guys a hint…

    We all now how expensive arcades are,don’t we?Well,I have a little “aid” that’s cheaper.Put chairs without table!Customers coming in will sit down there and wait for a table to be available.However,this has 2 drawbacks:
    -First, a table must be available soon,or they get out,thumbs down.
    -Second, if all the chairs-without-table are filled and a new customer comes in,the next table that’s available is for the new customer,not the one sit down.

    And I’d like to emphasize that I did not say that the customer flow is 10 person per minute. Please read my blog entry again, I’m saying that “example” just to illustrate the following formula to other RC players:

    Higher customers rate = more thumbs/money/gourment points

    I don’t think there are any standard sets of ingredients which one can harvest from the garden, I think they are all randomised. Just my guess :)

    There is currently another way to get ingredients.
    If you go to the right side of ur resturant there will be what looks like a garden…. it is. At certain levels you will unlock a space. From my understanding you can grow any ingredient that can be grown(not milk, flour, sugar, etc.). I dont have a garden yet so im not sure about what you can and cannot grow. Hope that helps!! :)

    The table with a plate on it means a dirty table and just a table is if you have a waiting area (just chairs) and all of your tables are being used that will appear. :)

    I’m at level 21 and have 48.3 popularity
    I also currently have 9 employees hired, so i think that as you keep leveling, each couple levels you can hire more employees, i do not believe there is a limit.
    Also, I found that have a level 10 dish was not necessary. The highest one i have is level three, but also making the front of your restaurant look nice bring more customers in.

    Also, I never hired a cleaner for toilets and garbage, because if you clean enough of them yourself you get trophies.
    And although its expensive to plant seeds in your garden (2000 coins), it is well worth the investment. I only have three plots open now, but you can get ingredients that are much cheaper to grow than to buy, since everything in the market is usually at least 2800 coins.

    Wen Bin, I didn’t have time to read every post here, but read through most of it. Forgive me if I may repeat something already said. Anyway, I have a tip for those who have time to babysit your restaurant:

    If you clean the toilets yourself and clear the tables yourself (as fast as possible), this gives your waiters more time to just deliver the food instead of walking over to the table to clear it. You can click on more than one dirty dish at a time – they just go into a queue to be cleared. That will make more people happy. Also, the higher your rating, the more people you will be serving at any given time. I have 8 employees and found the best ratio to be 5 cooks to 3 waiters. This gets the food out as fast as possible. There will still be an occasional thumbs down, but you’ll mostly have thumbs up. I can easily maintain a 45+ rating. Also, I do not rest my employees, nor do I block the door. Your rating should be very close to the same when you log in compared to when you last logged out. The key is to NOT minimize the window. Once your employees have full health (and you don’t want to babysit them), just log out immediately. The next time you log in you’ll have to immediately feed your employees and then babysit a little more to bring it up a notch or two. The reason I do this is because if your employees are not working, you will get less money. That being said, the more you check your restaurant, the more money you’ll make.

    Sorry for the long paragraph. One final thing – I have not found ice or icecream as an ingredient yet – do the refrigerators have something to do with that? Thanks for your help.     Hi Farah,

    Try updating your flash to the latest version. If it doesn’t work, try install other browser, like if your Internet Explorer doesn’t work, try installing Firefox or any other browser; it might work. Clear your cache and temporary folder as well. If still doesn’t work, try posting a help request on the PlayFish forum. the professional people there are paid to solve problems like that ;)

    if some of you already know this trick , cool , if not , here’s something i would like to share .
    (this trick WONT make your popularity higher , but will increase your gourmet points & earn money faster)
    (im in level 25 w’ 45-50 popularity)

    when your employees have 100% , put them to their stations , and open your restaurant . let a few customers go in . then close it again. then save and exit the game . when you come back an hour or so, you will find that you have earned money & gourmet points . you can put your employees to rest or let them continue ‘working’ there , either one . then when they have 100% again, you can repeat the steps.

    *the amount of money you earn depends on how many employees & tables-chairs you have . in level 25 , i make a pretty good 4,300 per day (from 100 – 0% , because i let them work all day) . why not try .

    That’s a nice trick for money. But then, it will make your restaurant’s popularity drop. If it drops, the next time you use it, you won’t earn as much already, since the popularity is not that high. Nonetheless it’s a good way to earn good money once in a while!

    you dont even have to open your restaurant to do that trick. just put your people to work go to the street and then leave the application all together if you want. Since your restaurant isnt open you wont lose popularity and you still get the 5k coins now that they work 4 hours. thought id let ya all know :)

    One glitch I found was that when you level up dishes, they automatically start being served without deselecting my other dishes. So now I have 8/3 dishes served in the main course ^-^

    Another way to get ingredients is having your friends gift them! Of course, the gifts are only for certain dishes, but it’s still great.
